Meta Elizabeth & Douglas Raymond Childs

Hello and welcome to our family. We have a small farm in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia. We chose the Valley as the place to settle down after a career spanning just over 29 years in service to our country of Canada as a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force and later known as the Canadian Forces. The career was rewarding but the life of a military wife is often difficult and frustrating from all the requirements asked of a military family. I must say, it takes a certain dedication and commitment to maintain the family life as near normal as possible and Meta has certainly done all that and more in our family.

I met Meta in the kitchen of her parents home in Seaforth, Ontario. Follow that link to meet them. She wasn't even my date that night but that changed very quickly. We were married on December 17, 1965 in Meta's hometown of Seaforth, Ontario. That was the first opportunity for my parents to meet their soon-to-be daughter-in-law.  I was stationed in Europe at the time and I think a European honeymoon of nearly three years was something not many brides have. Well. It seemed like a honeymoon to us.

Let me introduce you to the rest of the family:

William Darrick |Dianna Lynn | Christopher Danial | Daven Raymond

The history of the family dates back many centuries.  I have included information regarding the ancestral home of the MacLeods at Dunvegan to help establish the extent of out heritage.

The story of the the Childs family is intertwined with many families throughout the world.  I have also included a short descriptive story written by Edith M Ham, Brantford, Ontario and much of the credit for research on the many branches belongs to her as well.  A great deal of time and dedication, as well, was spent by my Grandmother, Ellen Smith, and my mother and father, in compiling much of the family history.
