Before I even open my mouth to tell you how cute these two are, let me clarify something here and now: The Anthy I'm referring to is going to be first, maybe second saga Anthy. None of this creepy witch Rose Bride Akio stuff. None. I'm talking about when everything was nice and cute and innocent.

Now that I've cleared that up, I can sum up Anthy and Miki for you in one word: KAWAII. It's all puppy love -- it's Miki's first crush. He thinks she's cute, and he likes how she's quiet and reserved but so sweet. And he really falls for her when he hears her playing the Sunlit Garden in the dorm (flashback: Anthy fails a test pretty badly and has to do makeups, so Miki corrects her paper for her and tutors Utena, Anthy and Nanami. A big argument erupts over Anthy's pets, and she disappears, only for Miki to hear the Sunlit Garden playing faintly. They find her at a piano and Miki tells the story of him and his sister for the first time). In fact, this is the main common trait that they both seem to share and enjoy; the piano. Miki plays it passionately, Anthy plays it to pass the time; but when they get together they both play differently, as if they have an interest in one another (obviously ^_^). Miki usually gets that shyness about him, and small talks with Anthy about her playing. It is through this that he realizes that she can only do what the current champion tells her to. It's for this reason, for him to possess and free Anthy, that he first fights Utena. He loses, once he sees that Anthy is cheering on Utena and that she really is free.

All of the Rose Bride stuff aside, since his crush on Anthy only exists for the first saga or so, I'm going to tell you one more time: these two are so cute! It's like the little middle school boyfriend/girlfriend things you see that are so cute.

And it just occured to me: this crush only lasted the first saga or so, and that's really the only innocent one. So it fits in nicely, being almost an epitome of the first saga's unknowing and innocence.
