" Seldom came a sunset that it wasn't known ... We Cared! "

The song playing as background music for this page is entitled "Sometimes".
The song is in fact the reason for this page.
Hopefully you should be hearing it as you read this.

I first heard this melody in the late 1970's or early 1980's.
The song appeared on a LP record purchased at that time.
The record featured the music of a group Arline and I enjoyed.
For those who may remember ... I'm referring to the "Carpenters".

I liked the melody the very first time I heard it.
Sung by a talented young woman Karen Carpenter,
Who tragically left this world at a very young age.
Her brother Richard accompanied her on the piano
... most beautifully I might add.

Of all the hit songs this group recorded, "Sometimes" became a favorite of mine.
It never made the top of the record charts as did so many of their songs
... and I always thought that a bit sad.

Because aside from the lovely melody, it was the lyrics ...
Sung so clearly and sweetly, that stirred the emotions
... at least they did mine.

The simple message it conveyed was beautifully provoking.
It has never left me over the years.

"Sometimes ... Not often enough,

We reflect upon the good things,

And those thoughts always center around those we love,

And I think about those people, who mean so much to me.

And for so many years have made me ... so very happy,

And I count the times I have forgotten to say ...

Thank You ... and just how much I love them."

The song "Sometimes": Music composed by Henry Mancini ... Lyrics written by Felice Mancini

The song served as a gentle reminder of what I believe to be a small ...
but important part, of a long and wonderful relationship.

Arline and I paid heed to that reminder ... knowing that inevitably,
a time must come where one is left behind with sorrow.

Realizing what a blessing it would be not having added to that sorrow,
The heartache of regret! ... over " times we had forgotten ".

How very wise we both were ... to have paid heed !

Thank You Karen - Thank You Richard - and Thank You Felice and Henry.
