We have no specific record naming William Woodmancy between the birth of his son George in 1853 and his marriage to Martha Northrop in 1867, and his specific whereabouts and activities during this period are not known. His daughter Ameliaís petition in his estate file, however, states he was the father of two daughters born during this period. This is supported by their death records, which list their motherís name as Mary Jane Rhodes.
Cecelia Omstead Woodmancy was born September 26, 1857, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and was in the care of Edward & Sarah Evers, apparently unrelated, in Flint, Michigan by June, 1870. Cora Estell Woodmancy was born in Michigan July 16, 1864, and informally adopted by William & Sarah (Keech) Ritter of Mansfield, Ohio, before June, 1880.
Mary Jane Rhodes was born in New York state, according to Cora's death record. Information given by the daughters in censuses from 1870 to 1920 give various places, however. No further information concerning her is known.
From these facts and his subsequent marriage, it appears William was in Michigan by about 1857, and that his second marriage was ended by separation or wife's death prior to 1867.
