Question and Answer Forums

As you probably know by now, the Internet is a great place to find answers to your questions. One popular learning forum is the Usenet Newsgroup rec.pets.birds. Here you can ask questions participate in debates, and make new friends (and enemies!). As with any advice, view everything you see here with some common sense. If it doesn't make sense to you--then ignore it. Don't be surprised if when you first show up nothing makes sense. I've been there for well over a year, and sometimes I'm still confused. You might have arrived in the middle of the debate of the week! Lurk for a while and you'll get the hang of things--and learn who gives the good advice and who doesn't.

Before you check out the newsgroup, stop by and read the FAQ, which is housed at Up At Six, which is another great all around bird resource on the web. Read the FAQ and you might just get your question answered before you even ask it (and you will avoid any unneccessary unpleasantness, which we try to avoid as much as possible in rpb!).

Another great forum is Ask The Experts, also located at Up At Six. Here, you can pose your question to a panel of experts--including avian veterinarians and other avian experts such as Joanne Abramson and Bob Wilson.

You can even read articles originally published in Bird Breeder Magazine. Howard Voren's Breeder Q & A is a popular column that is brought to you on the net by Beakers

If you're lazy (like me) you can have answers delivered to your email box! There are many mailing lists which you can subscribe to--from Amazons to Senegals to Conures, there's a mailing list for everyone.

If that isn't enough for you, here are some other sites where you might find some answers.
