HEAVY GRAPHICS - Patience Required - Worth the Wait In loving memory of Aneida Lyles Boyd September 13, 1918 - January 1, 1992 Christmas is a very special time for everyone and it was the favorite time of year for my mother-in-law. She devoted her life to her family and making all the holidays special for them was very important to her. From our house to yours with these wishes for you borrowed from Henry van Dyke. Thinking of You By Henry van Dyke I am thinking of you today, because it is Christmas, and I wish you happiness. And tomorrow, because it will be the day after Christmas, I shall still wish you happiness; and so on, clear through the year. I may not be able to tell you about it every day, because I may be far away; or because both of us may be very busy;or perhaps because I cannot even afford to pay the postageon so many letters or find time to write them. But that makes no difference. The thought and the wish will be here just the same. In my work and in the business of life,I mean to try not to be unfair to you or injure you in any way.In my pleasure, if we can be together,I would like to share the fun with you. Whatever joy or success comes to you will make me glad. Without pretense, and in plain words, good will to you is what I mean, in the Spirit of Christmas. Heart Gifts by Helen Steiner Rice It's not the things that can be bought that are life's richest treasure, It's just the little "heart gifts" that money cannot measure... A cheerful smile, a friendly word, a sympathetic nod Are priceless little treasures from the storehouse of our God... They are the things that can't be bought with silver or with gold, For thoughtfulness and kindness and love are never sold... They are the priceless things in life for which no one can pay, And the giver finds rich recompense in giving them away. My mother-in-law was a great cook and the whole familywould gather around her table every Sunday after church for a delicious meal that she had prepared. One of her favorite Christmas recipes was a fruitcake-type cookie called Lizzies. It's becoming a tradition now at my house to make this recipe. If you'd like to try them, just click here for the recipe.
