Faith Suspends A Bridge

by Perry Tanksley

Bridges

Don’t cross your rivers ‘til you come
To where your rivers are,
For faith can make them disappear
And you will journey far.
For crossing rivers in one’s mind
When rivers are not real
Requires no brilliant intellect
Nor calls for special skill.
And crossing rivers in your mind
When rivers are not there,
Makes thoughts play tricks on you,
and you’ll see rivers everywhere.
Don’t cross your rivers ‘til you come
To where your rivers are,
But when they’re real, don’t fear to cross;
That’s what a river’s for!
And you will cross each river if
Upon some rocky ridge,
Hope sinks a shaft besides the gorge
And Faith suspends a bridge.

CONSIDER THE LILIES
by Tennessee Harmony

Consider the lilies; they don't toil or spin,
But there's not a king with more splendor than them.
Consider the sparrows; they don't plant nor sow,
But they're fed by the Master who watches them grow.

We have a Heavenly Father above
With eyes full of mercy and a heart full of love.
He really cares when your head is bowed low;
Consider the lilies, then you will know.

May I introduce you to this Friend of mine
Who hangs out the stars, tells the sun when to shine.
And kisses the flowers each morning with dew,
Oh, but friend, He's not too busy to care about you!

We have a Heavenly Father above
With eyes full of mercy and a heart full of love.
He really cares when your head is bowed low;
Consider the lilies, then you will know.

Consider the lilies, then you will know.

FOOTPRINTS

by Margaret Fishback Powers

Animated Footprints

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he
was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints
in the sand: one belonging to him and
the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path
of his life there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the
very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned
the Lord about it. “Lord, you said that once
I decided to follow you, you’d walk with me
all the way. But I have noticed that during
the most troublesome times of my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why,
when I needed you the most, you would leave me.”
The Lord replied, “My precious, precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you saw only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you.
