a visitor from england, of the same lineage. I do know that there have been several 'waves' of migration of burgesses to the US. Family stories talk about Burgesses greeting the Pilgrim Fathers when they arrived! The latest migrations from my family took lace mid-1920's, Liverpool to New York. They were missionaries. Oscar Bligh of Woodville, N.S.,b.1861 went to Sauk Center MN to work in the lumber industry. He had a son, my grandfather, Arthur Seymore b. 1893 there. Can find no birth Certif. for A. and no marriage of Oscar. Arthur went back to Montreal and married reida G. Fairman 1903. Don't know if Oscar went back. Others have tried to find Oscar but to no avail. (Hovey Freeman, Ebenezer Burgess & Bill Burgess)

William Downtain married a Charlotte Mary Burgess in Kentucky--about 1838. Charlotte Mary shows up in the 1860 Federal Census in Bath County, Kentucky as Charlotte Mary Downtains.
