* This is not prohibition - it does not deny alcohol to anyone except the one who has broken the law.
* It isn’t making the servers “turn them in”,... only “turn them down” (for alcohol). And it tells the server, “WHO” (!) is not to be served!
* This is not an infringement on rights - this is already being done with a portion of the population (minors) and only extends it to include DUI offenders.
* It is not a “scarlet letter”. The distinctive "restrict alcohol" license would be the same for voluntary restrictions, and no inference needs to, or should be made as to "WHY" a license carries a restriction.
.
* This is not a "bite" out of personal freedoms. It's about responsibilities that go with those freedoms .. the freedom to drink and the freedom to disperse alcohol.
* This is not making "society responsible" for the DUI offender. This is not putting a higher accountability on the server than on the DUI offender. Each person is responsible for his own actions. Since a server has the right & also the accountability for dispersing alcohol responsibly, a fine and/or a suspension of their business license is at risk (just as it is currently if they serve a minor or an already intoxicated person) if a "restricted license holder" is found to have been served/sold alcohol at their licensed establishment.
