Sheba's Story

Sheba's Story

When Susan wore me down (October 1984) and convinced me we needed a Dog, we went to the East Shore Humane Socity (Harrisburg, PA) Sheba was just a shy 6 week old puppy. We looked at several puppies and then walked through the adult dogs section. When we did not see any adult dogs dogs that caught our attention we went back to see the puppies. Sheba and one of her brothers were still available. When Susan picked up Sheba we fell in love. Sheba came home to our town house in Harrisburg.

Sheba broke her front leg (mild fracture) in her first 6 months and it was then that we first met the doctors at the capital area anmial medical center.

We had Sheba Spayed before her first birthday

Susan house broke Sheba in the first 2 weeks and taught sheba her name and to come and sit in the first two months.

Sheba was a couple years old when my sister and her family (including an 18 month old boy) my sisters son on seeing Sheba screems "DOG" and grabs two handfuls of fur and pulls. Sheba never warmed up to young childeren

My Parents lived on the Patuxent River in Southeren MD When Sheba was less that a year old she took a short ride on mom and dads 25' Sailboat. It was a cold and windy November day and the ride was rough. Sheba was sitting on the same bench as my dad, I was startled when my father jumped out of his seat. Sheba was frightened by the rough ride and she had urinated on the bench he was sitting on. SHeba spent the rest of her life uncomfortable around water

Three years ago we moved from downtown Harrisburg to a small mountian south of the city. We went from a small intercity lot to a 1 acre wooded lot. Sheba first encountered wild life larger that Squirles One night when three deer walked up to with in 10 feet of a screened in porch on the back of our new home.
