To start with, I believe in the right to free speech, whether in verbal or written form, and I believe it must be protected at all costs. Having said that, let me say that I also believe that my right to free speech comes with a set of responsibilities.

Sadly, most people who talk about free speech won't talk about responsibility. They seem to believe that they should be allowed to say anything they wish without suffering any repercussions. All they care about is "me" and "my rights."

I personally don't buy it. Freedom of speech is not a license to communicate in a profane, violent, or insulting manner simply because one wants to do it. My freedom of speech stops when I infringe on the rights of others, and theirs stops when it infringes on mine.

For example, I believe that I have the right to disagree with someone else's views, but that I don't have the right to verbally incite others to attack them, whether physically, verbally, or emotionally, because of them.
