ELIAS BARRON

(1860 - 10/12/1935)

Grandfather Elias

(We are seeking persons who may be researching The Barrons from Edisto Island {Charleston County}, South Carolina.) We are still seeking Elias' parents. We have discovered thus far that Elias was the son of Isaac Barron. However, we have learned no information about his mother.)

Elias Barron was the Patriarch of the family. Although U.S. Census records do not confirm this, rumor has it that he was born on the first day of freedom, 1865. However, his death record reports that Elias was born in Georgetown. Incidentally, the certificate does not report his mother or father's name. Yet, all oral reports and US Census records state that he resided on Edisto Island, S.C. Elias is said to be born on the plantation called "Neck". He was one of at least three children. His sister was Susan Jane and his brother was Isaac.

When Elias was an adult, he bought property at Palmetto, S.C. (a section of Edisto Island). He was a farmer.

Elias married at least four times. His wives were:

Sarah ElviraWright Annie Gazley JaneManley

According to the Twelfth Census of the United States, dated June 23rd, 1900, Elias and Annie were married for fifteen years. Annie is reported to have live births of ten children.

He was kind and caring to his eleven children, as well as to his grandchildren. Both his children and grandchildren called him "PA."

Elias' children discovered to date:

Names
Sylvie Daisy Evelyn Jane Marrie
Donnally Isaac Earnest Verbenia Luvinia
Ruth

Elias Barron died on Edisto Island, S.C. on October 12,1935. He leaves a multitude of children, grandchildren, great-grand children, and great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren to celebrate his life.
