Last Year's News

Troop #530 has 8 girls and 2 leaders. We are 3rd grade Brownies at this moment, but will be bridging to Juniors during the first week of April. We are very proud of that. We're busily finishing our bridging activities and delivering cookies. We did so good at our cookie sales this year that we decided to purchase Junior vests for everyone when they bridge. The leader is even going to ser on all of the patches for us!

Oh, how things have changed! We are now Juniors, bridging 2 1/2 months early. We earned the Math Whiz badge during bridging and we went to a badge workshop and earned Creative Solutions. Right now, we are earning the Aloha Puahana patch. We are learning about the Hawaiian language, customs and lands. We learned about this council patch through the Hawaiian council website. (Check it out at their trading post!) A lot of the activities went for the Folk Arts badge, too. Everytime the girls were asked about where they wanted to go on a field trip, they'd say that they wanted to go to Hawaii. In our own way, we are visiting Hawaii by having a luau complete with palm trees, shish-ka-bobs and leis to end the school year. The troop selected the Hawaiian lei for their troop crest.

Over the summer, we met almost every week, working on the Sign of the Sun. We had 5 girls attend SunnyWoods Day Camp. We earned 5 badges. We did the par course at our local hospital, went on a 5 mile bike ride, went for a 4 mile walk and walked in the 5K Crim Walk. To get ready for school, we had a primping party (we did facials, painted our nails and had a shampoo party.)
