The Family

This is our family page. John and I have been married almost 18 years now. We didn't have any children together, but he gave me four step-daughters, and they, in turn, have given us seven grandchildren. Here's a little bit about us and some pictures.

John and me in July '97 when
we renewed our wedding vows.

John and I met in 1980 in a truckstop in Bryan's Corner OK. We were both long-haul truckers. I had been driving in a bad snow and ice storm. When I tried to pull into the truckstop lot, my truck got stuck. I went inside to try to get help. This was a tiny truckstop and there were only five drivers inside at the time. They were all sitting at a table together, and when I approached them to ask if they could help me get out of the snowbank, this bunch of macho cowboy truckers sprang into action. As all six of us walked out the front door, one of them said "Okay, little lady, where's your car?" I answered, "Um...it's that Freightliner right over there." LOL! Did I have them fooled! John was driving a flatbed and had some chains, so he hooked up to my truck and pulled it out. The weather was much too nasty for either of us to continue on that night, so we sat up and talked for hours, and the rest is history. In a few weeks I left my job in Kansas and moved to Houston to run team with John and he's never been able to get rid of me since then.

John left trucking several years ago and went back to his original work, heavy equipment operation. He injured his back in an accident in 1994 and is disabled now. But that doesn't keep him from being very active. We both work with Greyhound adoption and run a small home-based business called Hound Mountain, making and marketing Greyhound-related merchandise.

In the last 18 years we have lived in Houston TX, Bay City TX, Wheeler TX, Russellville KY, Indianapolis IN, Black Mountain NC, and are now in Belington WV, near John's family and birthplace.

Daughters Jenny and Gina with Jenny's kids,
Rodney, Rodreka ("Gus"), and Anthony.

Jenny had a short career in the Army and went to Korea. She married a fellow soldier and gave us three grandchildren. Gina is a student at Frostburg State University, working her way through school toward a degree in International Business. She has just returned from a semester of study in Ireland. Jenny, Gina and the kids all live in Maryland. Anthony is five, Rodney is almost four, and Gus just turned two.

Daughter Pati and her older
son, Zack.
Zachary and Nicholas.

Pati and her husband Donnie and the boys live in Indianapolis. Both the boys have had some health problems (though you'd never know it to look at them), so Pati is a full time Mom. Zack is almost five, and Nick is three.

Daughter Angie's daughter,
Catherine, at about 5 months.
Catherine at about a year and a half. Catherine about a year ago.

Angie, JR and daughter Catherine live in California. Catherine will be seven this summer and we've never seen her. She has a sister, Haley, now, but we don't have any pictures yet.
