Hemp and Other Jewelry Creationsby Jodi

New Pictures Posted!
This is only the beginning of my jewelry page. Many changes will occur as new things are added.
If you are interested in beading, macramé and jewelry making, bookmark this site and watch it evolve! Please be patient while the images load, and excuse any poor scans; I'm working on better ways to illustrate the true color and simple beauty of these pieces.

My favorite materials to work with are "natural", such as leather or hemp for the cording, and glass, metal, wood, clay, bone, semi-precious stone and other natural substances as decoration. I also work with economical materials such as ordinary metals, some plastics, low cost glass, findings and other components and stringing cordage. If I see an artistic possibility, I utilize it.

All pieces are of my own design. Nothing is copied. Nothing is overly complicated in design. If you are interested in obtaining any of the pieces, or would like something similar created in your own color palate or material choice, please e-mail me for pertinent information. Thanks for stopping in to browse... enjoy!

As a footnote, I'd like to thank the many artisans whose work inspired, and continues to inspire me. My own work seems so insignificant and absurd in contrast to the talents of many. At the bottom of this page are links to many sites that I have found to be exceptional and innovative in their creative and artistically skillful content. I've also included links to supply houses and catalog sources. (links section not complete as of 5/99.)

About my interest in Jewelry Making and Beading...
I began making jewelry and other crafts many, many moons ago.  I consider myself artistic, although brush and canvas aren't for me. I express myself in different art forms. Wreath making, macramé, cross stitch, crewel, embroidery, stenciling, garden design, writing and jewelry making are a few of my outlets.

Most of my jewelry designs tend to be very simple with minimal ornamentation. I've never been a huge fan of gaudy rhinestones or large, overdone pieces. I hold with the adage that less is more. Basic can be very beautiful.

Even though I like sterling silver, gold and precious gems, I think the materials that go into a piece are not as important as the statement a finished piece makes. That's why I enjoy working with all types of material. I even mix and match them to get the effect I desire.
