BARRY RAGAN - ST. JOHN'S TREE BOARD WINNER OF THE KUFC'S
"SHARE THE SHADE" AWARD

   Barry  Ragan,  Volunteer Forester  of the City of     St.  John  was  instrumental   in  the estab- lishment  of  the   St. John Tree Board   in 1996. And since that  time, has gone a guy who liked trees   with    little   forestry   knowledge   to   a self-taught    "small      town"   visionary    who    has  accomplished big things. The board under his leadership has  qualified   for    TREE CITY USA  every   year   and    has     received    two   Growth Awards.

. He  has  also  proved  to be talented in fund raising, receiving a grant  of $11,2000    through     the   KS  Wildlife   and  Parks Trails Grant program.
    St. John's Tree Board has:
        A tree inventory and management plan
                 Volunteer projects using the
                   SHARE THE SHADE trees.
                     Renovated Brown Park.
              Developed a home page for the
                       St. John Tree Board.
