Build your catholic Web Page

Many people would like to build their catholic webpage as me, but one doesn't even know where to start. What graphics to use? What to do so it doesn't take too long loading? How to organise it well? What maintenance do i have to give it? etc. etc.

That's why i decided to include this links webpage so they can have the same collection of software i'm using for my webpages. Actually i copied all of these links from my bookmarks :)

I also include graphic sites (including christian graphics) to decorate your webpage.

Free sites to host your web page

• Yahoo! GeoCities
  
  I stay with this one... ads are tiny if you have HTML 4; includes support, free e-mail, even a ClipArt collection. The only requisite is that your page isn't pornographic, pirate or violent.
  
  
• Freeservers
  Very good site!
  
  
• XOOM.COM
  The bad thing about this one is that you have to update your webpage monthly or they dump it.
  
  
• Angelfire
  This one's good, too bad the FTP utils are limited.
  

SOFTWARE: Programs & tutorials

HTML editor programs

• TuCows' HTML STUFF
  Not only they have ALL the software for your web page. They also give hints!
• Search & Replace 98
  This free program helps you to make fast replaces in ALL your HTML pages.
• The Free Site: Free Software: Free HTML Utilities
  Has the list of ALL free utils for html.
• GWD Text Editor
  I make my webpages with this one. You can customize macros, dictionaries, and it has syntax hilighting so you can program in various languages (pascal, C++, etc). For only $25.00
• Xenu's Link Sleuth (TM)
  This free program checks the broken links in your webpage.
• Net Mechanic
  Tests your page online. Includes ortography corrector. But it's limited to 50 pages.

Graphic Programs

• TuCows' HTML STUFF
  Not only they have ALL the software for your web page. They also give hints!
  (Yes i know i listed it in the previous category - but, let me repeat, they have A-L-L the software for your webpage! (including graphic programs).
  
• Adobe Photoshop LE
  For only $89! Cheaper than the newest version of Paint Shop Pro. Unfortunately that's the cheapest i've found so far.
  
  
• JASC - PaintShop Pro
  With this one i painted the little clouds in my page. The newest version is $99.
  
  
• Logitech FotoTouch Color version 1.3
  This is a nice program to retouch good quality photos. It does support 256 color mode. If you have a Logitech scanner, you can use it (the license says so).

• IrfanView
  With this FREE program you can do anything to a graphic: Resize, resample, change colors, use as wallpaper, apply Photoshop filters, convert between formats, etc. It's not an editor, but is a great tool anyway!
  
  
• TGIFImage Homepage
  This is actually a page of a Delphi (Pascal) component, but it includes a FREE GIF optimizer!
  
  
• One-Day Fireworks Tutorial
  For Fireworks users.
