My name is Floyd Coonce. I currently live in CT; but, was born in MO.
My parents were Floyd E. & Jessie M. (Patterson) Coonce. They lived their entire lives in Doniphan, Mo.
My grandparents were Sherman & Emma (King) Coonce.
There are stil some Coonce families living in the Doniphan area; however, I don't have much information regarding them. I know there was a Calvin and Martin (which I beleive was my great grandfather).

Hi, all. My family has traditionally traced itself to Johannes of the Joyce, too, but that can't be so if Lowell Koontz's book is correct. Here's what I know reliably. Generations 1 and 2 lived near what is now Shepherdstown, West Virginia; generations 3
nd 4 moved to and lived in northeastern Missouri (Ralls, Marion, Monroe, Audrain, and Shelby Counties). Generation 5 joined the Navy, and the family has been on the move ever since. Will be glad to swap information with other COONTZes, KOONTZes, COONSes,

I am a descendant of Johannes Cuntz/Coones who arrived in Philadelphia on the ship _Joyce_ on November 30, 1730. He married Anna Elisabetha Stoever, daughter of John Casper Stoever, Sr., on June 22, 1738, in Earltown, PA. He was deeded land and moved to
Opequon, Frederick Co., VA, where his son John Koontz, Sr., was born in 1739.
Most of my information comes from a book I found in the Page Co. VA Public Library titled _History of the Descendants of John Koontz_, by Lowell Koontz, McClain Printing Co., 1979.
Would anyone at this site be researching this branch of the family? I have no information on the parents of Johannes.
