What is the Gospel?

Why did Jesus come ? What are we to be saved from ?

1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from
the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that
he might destroy the works of the devil. (KJV)

Matt 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS:
for he shall save his people FROM their sins. (KJV)

us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: (KJV)
1 Pet 2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: (KJV)

Why do we need to be saved from sin ?

We can not overcome it on our own Our Natures are sinful - fallen

committeth sin is the servant of sin. (KJV)
John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

2 Pet 2:19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants
of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he
           brought in bondage. (KJV)

may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil. (KJV)

         can know it? (KJV)

         sin. (KJV)

what I hate, that do I. (KJV)
Rom 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing:
for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good
         I find not. (KJV)
Rom 7:19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not,
         that I do. (KJV)

mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my
         members. (KJV)
Rom 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this
         death? (KJV)

What then exactly is Sin ?

is the transgression of the law. (KJV)
1 John 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and
in him is no sin. (KJV)

What about if I'm ignorant of the Law?

Then wrong actions are evil but there is no guilt
James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him
           it is sin. (KJV)

Sin is based on knowledge.

Evil becomes guilt
Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not
known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law
had said, Thou shalt not covet. (KJV)

           and my Father. (KJV)

now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth. (KJV)

        born there. Selah. (KJV)

Matt 11:21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the
mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and
Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
Matt 11:22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon
at the day of judgment, than for you. (KJV)
Matt 11:23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be
brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done
in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this
           day. (KJV)
Matt 11:24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of
Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee. (KJV)

Is a bad tendancy sin ?

Not unless it is cherished and conceived Sin is a matter of choice!
James 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust,
           and enticed. (KJV)
James 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when
it is finished, bringeth forth death. (KJV)

and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to

Rom 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the
         law, but under grace. (KJV)
