How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Net

I started my affair with computers about 20 years ago when my principal held a gun to my head and told me I was going to take a computer course. My only qualifications were that I was a warm body and I knew how to run a Video Camera - I was never sure what that had to do with anything. Once I got involved with some Apple 2e's and a little Basic code, I found a lot of it made sense and I ran out to buy a Commodore for my son because I realized that that was the way he thought.

To make a long story short, I fell in love. I love to "play" with computers (although I won't let my students call it that) and my son ended up as a Senior Systems Analyst with Kodak with his own shareware business on the side (http://www.thornsoft.com) My daughter has a series of website for the dogs she raises and does a lot of work on the computer in connection with her nursing also.

Simply, computers have deeply affected my life and; ready or not, they are affecting and will continue to affect all of our lives. One of the more obvious courses available is the one you are presently pursuing: find out what the technology can do for you. If you have the equipment, the time, and the commitment, the doors this can open are almost limitless. As Dr. Suess put it, "Oh, the places you'll go!"
