1947 AERONCA CHIEF

AVID CATALINA AMPHIBIAN

Flying was always a childhood dream of mine and I achieved that dream about 15 years ago when I received my Private Pilot License. I started out my flying experiences with the Swallow (my wife called it my lawn chair with wings). From there I went to an experimental open cockpit FP303. I enjoy flying as much as I can. I now own the two planes pictured above. I've been flying the Aeronca Chief around for about 5 years now and I'm at total peace with the world when I'm up with her. The Aeronca Chief is one sweet little plane. A two seater with all the speed you need to enjoy a beautiful day out in the wild blue yonder or she'll cruise at a nice slow and low to enjoy all the beauty of a river bank, the wildlife of a farmers field, and the thrill of flying just over the tree tops. In the winter I put the ski's on and can land almost anywhere. I love landing out on Little Bay de Noc to enjoy an afternoon of ice fishing, or landing in the field of a friend to pick them up for a ride.

The Amphibian I just purchased last summer and had a little mishap towing her home. So, last summer and all winter have been busy with repairs but she is ready for her virgin flight this summer. I'm looking forward to landing on the many lakes here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with my fishing pole and pup tent.
