The Ferrets in My Life

Four years ago, I walked into a pet store just to kill some time....
I walked out with 2 baby ferrets and my life has not been the same since!

Thunder and Lightning (affectionately named the Storm Sisters) taught me what it was like to be loved unconditionally, and at the same time led me into a world of unpredictability, chaos, and uncontrollable laughter. During the first year of the girls' life, I quickly learned a lot about living with ferrets (including the fact that they are smarter than I ).

Then one late night at work, I popped onto the Internet and found the Ferret Central. If you have not visited this site, I highly recommend it from both an informational perspective and a jumping spot to other sites (plus there are some really cute pictures). To make a long story short, this eventually led me to a local group of ferret lovers. Finding the Toronto Internet Ferret Group game me the opportunity to meet other ferret owners, share experiences and even better be in a room with a plethora of ferrets (Ferret Frolics). Thanks to my association with the people that make up the TIFG, my third ferret Hershey came into my life.

Not long after getting Hershey settled in with the Storm Sisters, I met Randy Belair, founder of the Ferret Aid Society of Toronto. Working with the shelter has given me a new understanding of how important it is to continuously improve ferret education for the good of ferrets everywhere. It has also enhanced my respect of these 4 legged creatures, by experiencing some of their heartaches first hand. It is thanks to the good work of the FAST, that Cosmo became the fourth ferret to call my house a home.
