My Holland Trip

Welcome one and all to the future page of my Holland extravaganza. My trip is scheduled to take off in July so come back for daily updates. See Holland, Kas and Walter through my eyes. I will put up daily information on things I've done and seen. And if I get lucky I'll be putting up picture too. So stay tuned and come back often. =)

So far to date this is what I've done:

December 24, 1998 - Got the passports and an International drivers permit.
OK guys which one of ya are going to let me drive? Hey here's a thought, "Which side of the road do y'all drive on over there?" *L* Still seems so far away!

April 1, 1999 - Went to the travel agent for flight information
oh man it's getting closer still not close enough though. Still 3 long months away!

April 29, 1999 - Went to the travel agent to BUY the tickets I now have departure and arrival times, a flight and seat number.....it's by the window *thinking* Gee I hope it doesn't mess my hair! lmao
oh man it's getting closer now I'm excited and nervous at the same time though. We are down to less than a couple of months.

June 19, 1999 - *hands shakin* it's less than 20 days now.....the next time I update this I'll probably be in Holland.

July 10, 1999 - Ok so I'm here! I got here on the morning of the 7th of July. Our tickets said we had window seats....but to my surprise it was next to where a window SHOULD be if they had put one in when the plane was built! UGH....so not to much to see on the flight :o( It was pretty confusing to find my way through the airport but I made it! *L* Walter picked us up promptly as we arranged....such a sweetie! I am still suffering from jetlag so I have been little or no use to anyone. We went into Amsterdam tonight for a little bit. I had to use the toilet on the train but some guy who had no money to pay for the trip was hiding in there so I had to wait to get to Amsterdam....THEN had to pay .50 per person....lol I guess Mom was right..."Go BEFORE you leave home." lmao Everyone drives REALLY fast here so if you blink you miss a complete city.....lol There are a lot of bikes (and ppl on them...even *L*) The mailman, the pizza boy and ppl going to work in suits on bikes. I was amazed at all the bikes outside one of the office buildings here.....wow! We went to the beach on the North Sea today.....FYI: bathing suits optional. *L* My daughter, Cassi, and Walter went to the Euromast yesterday while I was busy doing other things. *L*

July 18, 1999 Today Kas, Cassi and I went to Baarle-Nassau which is a tiny little piece of Belgium inside of Holland. It was cool we were driving straight and yet Kas would say, "Ok now we are in Belgium." And then a few minutes later he'd say, "Ok now we are back in Holland." And yet we hadn't turned around or gone in a circle.....lol We stopped in this cute little town and read a sign telling about the area. We read that there is this little acre of land that no one owns....hmm I'm thinking buy it and start my own Country.....EVERYONE knows I am a Queen anyway. *smerk* Ok so we played Miniature Golf......I let Kas win, after all I didn't want to beat him on his own turf. *L* On the way back to Holland we stopped and had some real Belgium fries....I did not know that the 'french fry' originated in Belgium.

We were driving down the road and that's when it happened....it was our first time......and it was together. We both had a different experience with this event so here you can read about it from both my point of view and his….enjoy!

Annie’s story:
He suddenly pulled over we both jumped from the car! We walked around the car....as we passed our eyes met and we just smiled at each other. As we sat closely one could see the tension in our eyes for we both knew what was to come. I grabbed the shaft as I examined it. He must have been nervous because his grip was so strong and tight. I looked at him and said, "Are you ready for the ride of your life?" He said, "This may be the last one I take....let's do it." We both slipped our protection on quickly before it got to out of control........one must be safe you know. *G* I looked to make sure it was clear and then slowly I started, he kept saying, "You can go faster you know." I told him, "Yeah in time I will......be patient man!" As I sped up he got so tense his hands started to sweat......then he was saying, "Slow down!" I was thinking...."sheesh man make up your mind already!" I too was nervous because I kept asking, "How's this....how am I doing?" He would always reply, "Just fine....so far so good. Keep going." As we were approaching the end I was thinking, "Wow what a rush....this was the best thing that has happened to me so far." He however was still saying, "Go to the left....ok now to the right....alright straight ahead....you got it there you go."

Kas’ story:
So we started out simple and slowly. I told her how I like it. I told her what she could expect. She looked at me and gazed as to how easy I was telling her this. And I could see in her eyes that she enjoyed it. We both had protection, so we put it on. We were still in the early stage at this moment, and we had to start everything. She started to turn it on. I told her to go slow. As she grabbed the stick I sighed. I was amazed of her ability to adapt to this situation. She was quick, she was slick. I told her that I liked it this way, but she could do it harder. She did… As she went faster and faster I was going out of my mind. I never did it like this. I was glad that we did this together. After a while I had to stop her, she was going out of control. She tried to do it in a different way than I would ever do. Not that I mind, but she did it different, softer, slower than I did.

The ending went like this: When we were done he was so happy he kissed the ground and Cassi said, "Wow Mommy we made it!" Oh did I forget to mention that this story was about the first time I drove in Holland and the first time that Kas has sat in the passenger seat of his car? Ooops sorry.....*EWG*

July 20, 1999 Today Cassi, Walter and I went figure skating in Dronten. It was so cool I have never seen an ice rink like this one. The outter rink was for speed skaters and the inner rink was for either figure or hockey I would say. In order to get to the inner rink we had to go down some stairs and through a tunnel which took us under the speed skating rink. We had the ice all to ourselves for 2 hours for 45 guilders....for those of you who are thinking, "What the hell is a guilder and how much is THAT?" Well that is about $22.50. Pretty cool I'd say. :o) Cassi practiced her 'tricks,' showed off and tried her best to get Walter to fall......lol BTW: she didn't push him hard enough because he was still standing after 2 hours. It took us about 2 hours to get to the rink, so it's a lil farther than we are use to traveling, but hey at least we found a rink here open all year. And we CAN say, "We skated in Europe!"

July 29, 1999 We came home today. It was a short trip but I learned a lot. I can count to 12 in Dutch and say a few other words too but also I learned things about myself which is the best lesson of all. Walter was a big help on things even though we do not have the same fews we managed to have fun. Kas is a blast just as I thought....he let us stay with him and we truely appreciate that. Remember when I said ppl over there drive REALLY fast......WELL Kas drives even FASTER! I mean one day we passed a cop! I was thinking, "Ok My Mom's number is.. I sure hope she takes me seriously when I tell her I get only one phone call." LMAO But over there you really don't see ppl pulled over by the Police cause they have 'flashers' which take a picture of your plate and then 3 weeks later you get the ticket in the mail. I'm thinking they have Kas' address on mailing lables by now....*L* My daughter and Kas' son hit it off REALLY well....we caught them kissing. So now all I hear out of her is, "My boyfriend in Holland...." The flight was ok except for the landing when I really started to wonder if there was a stunt pilot at the controls. *L* Then I remembered Kas telling Cassi and I that the pilot does not land the plane but the comptuer does....so THEN I start thinking that they are up there doing a "Ctrl+Alt+Delete" and getting really nervous. *L* Customs was a nightmare as usually but we are back on our turf and loving it. I may think of more things to put here and when I get the pictures I hope to put some up so come back by when you can. :o)
