The Little Portion
This is an umbrella program that can
be part of many others. Since we are a relatively small group, we decided to
do something different each quarter. One time we gathered prayer books,
rosaries, and other sacramentals for the missions. Another time we gathered
blankets, sheets, baby clothes, and toys for EPS, Emergency Pregnancy Service It will be
different every quarter. We just provide a helping hand and that's all.
Jail Ministry
We do work with the Douglas County Jail
Ministry. We each get an inmate to pray for. Later we find the result of our
prayers. i.e. probation, suspended sentence, etc. We continue to pray for the
individual until we hear what happens. It's really great to hear when someone
is released. We get a new inmate when the last one has been completed.
We continue to pray for all the imprisoned, but it is really different when there is a
name and a situation attached.
Poor Souls
This program has been set up as a simple
method of praying for that "special" person, that anyone (including
non-Franciscans), wants to pray for by having a Mass or Masses said for them. Send a
note with the name of the person and a Mass Stipend to the contact person in our
fraternity who then records and forwards the mailing to the Spiritual Assistant and
schedules
and says the Mass for them. This program runs quietly on its own. We
periodically remind members of this important ministry for the "church
suffering."
Franciscan Youth
This program is just beginning for our
Fraternity. The members of this group started as the "baby sitters" for
out meetings. We are getting very excited about the possibilities for this program.
The teens are some pretty special people. They already demonstrate many Franciscan
qualities.
This is summary of the fraternity sponsored
programs. We are always updating and improving them. We are trying to do as
much as possible with the resources we have.
