REMEMBERING FATHER
Welcome Come on in, stay awhile, and meet My DAD.
He was born in North Central Arkansas in 1902,
one of 12 children. By some standards they were a poor family. The
truth is they didn't know they were poor because the home was filled not
only with children but with love. Even though it seemed there may not be
alot to eat, there was always a place for a friend or another family member
and sometimes a total stranger. Dad was a very wise man as I remember him,
even though his formal education only consisted of going to several schools
up to the eighth grade. His parents never learned to read or write but
they were great teachers. They taught him Standards such as Hard
work, Honesty, Integrity , Respect for your self and others and a Great
Sense of Humor. The ability to laugh at ones self. Dad did
learn to read and write and reading became one of his favorite activities.
He read one book so much that he could quote it word for word and he used
it as his guide thru life. Dad worked for 38 years as a miner in the lead
mines in North East Oklahoma. The dust finally got to his lungs and
he had to find other employment. He never was able to hold down another
full time job because of his health. I was only 6 years old when Dad became
ill and at the time I didn't really understand what was happening.
He did spend alot of time with me when he was able and he managed to pass
along the same standards that he had been taught by his Father. Dad passed
away when I was 12. During the 6 years prior to his death I saw a
man that had worked hard all his life, he was Honest and had Integrity
and was respected by all that came in contact with him. Because of
his reading, scores of people came to his bed side to visit, chat and to
seek advice. When they came He would open his book and read to them.
He would read to me every night before bed time. When you left his bedside
you knew that you had heard the truth. We all came to love that book
and to use it as a reference for our lives. He taught me that that
book was written about his Father. No not his earthly Father but
His Heavenly Father. For GOD so loved the World that he gave his
only begotten SON that whosoever beleiveth in Him should not Perish but
have EVERLASTING LIFE. I will never forget the day Dad went to be
with his Father, he smiled and went to sleep. One day I will see him again
because of what he taught me as a child. I and my children will see
him and our Heavenly Father someday soon. You are invited to the
reunion. All you have to do is the same thing I and my Father and
his Father before him did, is to accept Jesus Christ as your heavenly father.
JESUS died that you may have life everlasting. The Name of the Book is THE HOLY BIBLE. Read it, you can't go wrong.
