Now that we have told you about the steak, please humor us by viewing the rest of this page and our web site. If you have never been here before, it can either be very interesting or very boring. It depends on what you are looking for.AMARILLO, TEXAS!!!!!!!!
If you are looking for a hopping town like Dallas or Los Angeles, that is where you need to go. Amarillo has a speed all its own. I wouldn't say we run at a snails pace but not exactly at a hares pace either. We are in the comfortable zone somewhere in between.
Read the Amarillo Globe News!!!!
Take a look at our local paper. It will help you get acquanted with our town.
After reading our paper, then check out our local Jr. College..Visit Amarillo College Campus. It has many things to offer to anyone that is just feeling that itch to go back to school, or continue in school if you are just getting out of high school.
Here are some other colleges that are located in our area.
WTAMU=West Texas A & M University
ENMU=Eastern New Mexico University
Let me tell you about some of the other things there are to do here.
For music, we have all kinds. Country, Rock, Blues, Alternative Music, Opera, and just about any other kind of music you like.
We also have Amarillo Little Theatre, Amarillo Lone Star Ballet, Amarillo Symphony, and other dance and acting groups. We are also the proud hometown of the famous outdoor drama called "Texas".
Amarillo also is home of the 2nd largest grand canyon. It is called Palo Duro Canyon, just south of town. It is where the famous "Texas" musical drama is performed at every summer.
If you are into sports than we have a few different ones to go see. We have the Amarillo Dillas, a Texas-Louisiania Pro league baseball team.
Then we have the Amarillo Rattlers , another minor league team, for all those hockey fans out there.
Then we get to the College and High School sports. This is the area were we tend to be more small town like. We are very supportive of our local teams. Since we have a kid attending one of the high schools we are supporters of the "Tascosa Rebels". GO REBELS!!!!!!
We have the "6th" street, part of the original Route 66, which is full of shopping of antiques and curios shops. The night life is great on the walk also. They have some of the best blues bars in town on 6th street.
Of course, this is also known as "Cowboy Country". We have the American Quarter Horse Assoc. It has a beautiful Museum. You can take tours of that and also the building next store and find out how all of the paperwork is done from start to finish. (I never would have known there was so much into getting a horse registered, if I hadn't worked there for about 4 years.)
There are tons of things to do here all times of the year. Please feel free to call the Chamber of Commerce, 806-374-1497, and they will be glad to send you any information you would like. Or if you want to you can email us and we will be glad to try to answer your questions.
Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to sign the guest book.
Before you leave, stop by and meet each of the family members.
