ABOUT MARIAH

Mariah Carey was born on March 27, 1970, in Long Island, New York. She has no middle name. Her first name, Mariah, means, "the wind" after a song "The Wind Is Called Mariah", in the musical "Paint Your Wagon".
She first showed signs of having musical talent at the age of two and a half. Her mom was an opera singer and gave her voice lessons when Mariah was four years of age.
When she was in the seventh grade Mariah considered herself ugly. But in her future she could only dream of one thing and that was singing.
She did not do her homework in school because she thought is was not important if you were going to be a singer. It was never in her plans to go any further than high school, because all she could think of was singing. She did howeveer enjoy creative writing in school, which probably helped her in writing some of the lyrics that she has written to her songs.
Once she graduated from school, she moved to New York City. In order to earn money, she worked as a waitress, and also sang for some of her customers. She thought that she was probably not that good of a waitress, though because of her attidude, toward her customers.
Just in case she needed a job if she did not made it as a singer she studied in a beauty school. She still enjoys fixing hair.
