1. ROBERT1 ANDERSON was born 1736. He married ELIZABETH CLARK.
Notes for ROBERT ANDERSON:
Robert Anderson, the first of his line concerning whom authentic record remains, is found, prior to Revolutionary times, a resident on historic Ye King's Highway, New Jersey, a thoroughfare thus named by the loyal English colonists who settled in that region soon after the grant of New Jersey was made. Robert Anderson's residence was about six miles from Philadelphia. He married Elizabeth Clark, a native of New Jersey, and had children: 1. James. 2. Robert, of whom further. 3. William, twin of Robert, died in infancy. 4. Sallie, a poetess of talent, publisher of a book of her own verse, married a Mr. Hastings. 5. Margaret, married a Mr. Barton, whose death preceded hers, she being left with two children, Margaret and Hettie. 6. Hettie came to Washington County with her brother, Robert, and there married James Mann. After the death of Robert Anderson, is widow married Colonel Brice Clark, who gained his rank through service in the American army in the war for independence. They were the parents of two sons, John and James.
