Mouth Confession
(What you say or confess with your mouth)
Psalm 42
1 AS the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for You, O God. 2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; When shall I come and appear before God? 3 My tears have been my food day and night, While they say to me all day long, "Where is your God?" 4 These things I remember and I pour out my soul within me. For I used to go along with the throng and lead them in procession to the house of God, With the voice of joy and thanksgiving, a multitude keeping festival. 5 Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him For the help of His presence. 6 O my God, my soul is in despair within me; Therefore I remember You from the land of the Jordan And the peaks of Hermon, from Mount Mizar. 7 Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls; All Your breakers and Your waves have rolled over me. 8 The LORD will command His lovingkindness in the daytime; And His song will be with me in the night, A prayer to the God of my life. 9 I will say to God my rock, "Why have You forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?" 10 As a shattering of my bones, my adversaries revile me, While they say to me all day long, "Where is your God?" 11 Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.
The psalmist raises the basic questions:
1. Where are you God?
2. What are you waiting for?
Hebrews 4:14-16
14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. 16 Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
- God is in Heaven waiting for you prayer. Hold fast our confession (i.e. watch what we say) verse 16: so that we may find mercy and find grace, (NOT Judgment)
Hebrews 7:25
Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
Hebrews 3:1
THEREFORE, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession;
- Jesus is the High Priest of our confession (speech, talk, etc.)
Bad Confessions:
1. Someone says, "I believe I'm catching the flue"
- why don't you say, "you flue, I resist you in the name of Jesus"
2. Someone says, "Boy, am I ever tired, I even woke up tired this morning."
- Jesus would say, "How can I be the High Priest of that confession?" You should say that God is your strength, and that ought to be enough.
3. Someone says, "I'm afraid to attempt, what if I fail?"
- I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me
4. Someone says, "The prices keep going up, I don't know what we're gonna do."
- keep trusting in God and say, "I don't care how big inflation gets, my God is bigger than the bubble"
5. Someone says, "Nothing ever goes right for me, I'm just a born looser."
- instead say, "Ever since Jesus came inside of me I'm on the winning side." "I was born again a winner"
6. Someone says, "I know that when God shows me a new truth I'm really going to get it, He's going to put me to the test."
- It is the blessing of the LORD that makes rich, And He adds no sorrow to it. Proverbs 10:22 (you shouldn't be afraid to be blessed)
7. Someone says, "I believe I healing but it just isn't God's will to heal me."
8. Someone says, "I would like to make plans to attend but I don't think we'll have the money."
- if God wants you to go then money isn't an object And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
9. Someone says, "My back always hurts worse when it's cold out."
10. Someone says, "I prayed for my husband's salvation but it's getting worse not better."
- you should say, "I don't care what he says, he's fighting and God can walk through closed doors."
11. Someone says, "It always rains when we plan a picnic."
12. Someone says, "I've tried to overcome but after all, nobody's perfect."
- James 1:4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
- Matthew 5:48 Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
We need to watch our mouth so that we don't say things that are negative!
Confess That:
- your husband loves you your boss likes you your kids love you the day is going to go well people like you God's going to work miracles through you
God Exists to Bless You
- take away your sins take the garbage out of your mind set your new goals heal you bless you in your work
Quit Accepting the Devil's Gifts!
III John 2
Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.
Mark 11:23
Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, "Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him.
Psalm 141:3
Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.
Matthew 12:36-37
36 "And I say to you, that every careless word that men shall speak, they shall render account for it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.
What you say really does matter:
Luke 12:8-9
8 "And I say to you, everyone who confesses Me before men, the Son of Man shall confess him also before the angels of God; 9 but he who denies Me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.
Faith Has Two Parts: Heart Faith and Mouth Faith
What you speak determines how you live!
Proverbs 18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.
One might say that well, God was talking about swearing and such, but here he clears everything up:
Ephesians 4:29
Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.
