THE STORY:

Frindle is an excellent book with lots of humor, action, determination, and changing of the English language. You will laugh at Nick's unusual ideas, become interested at how Ms. Granger tries to stop his one of his idea's, and be shocked at what THE LETTER says. You will hear how a new word makes it to the dictionary because of a kid and his idea.

Frindle starts in the town of Westfield, New Jersey. Nick Allen is a very creative child and is entering 5th grade. In his school, they have different teachers in 5th grade (like in middle school). For language arts, he gets Ms. Granger. She makes him write a report on the dictionary because he was trying to waste class time (with a lot of questions) so he wouldn't get homework (the teacher would not have enough time to assign it). He writes the report and finds the way words are invented interesting. As he was walking home with his friend, her pen dropped. He bent over and, thinking he could start a new word in his school, said to her "Here's your frindle".

However, things get out of control. His teacher strongly dislikes the fact that he could 'just invent' a new word and discourages it's use. But the word 'Frindle' spreads to the school, neighborhood, state, and... You'll have to read this book to find out what happens!!!
