Obituary Notice:

Services were this afternoon (Monday) at the First Presbyterian Church in
Redwood Falls for Rose M. "Kelly" Byram, 93, of Redwood Falls, who died Monday,
April 15, 1993 at the Woods Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls. Rev. Leroy
Hanes officiated. Interrment was at the Redwood falls Cemetery. Pall bearers
were Scott Preusse, Gary Zick, Jim Edwards, Jim Miller, and Erwin Greve.
Visitation was in the afternoon at the church. Nelson Funeral Home of Redwood
Falls was in charge of the arrangements. Rose Marie "Kelly" Byram was born
April 11, 1899, in Bloomington, IL., to Joseph A. and Mary Helen (Radka)
Balcer. She grew up in Bloomington and attended school there. She married
Robert H. Byram in October 1936 and they lived in Redwood Falls in the early
1930's. They moved around the country from 1942 to 1948, with Robert working
in the defense industry, until moving to St. Paul in 1948; ther they lived
until returning to Redwood falls in 1970. She had managed the Paris Beauty
Shop before moving away in 1942. She was a member of First Presbyterian of
Redwood Falls and a member of the Ladies Aid at the church. She had been a
member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 70 years, having joined in
Montana in December 1920. She is survived by step-children pt and Lucille
Byram of Redwood Falls, and Carmin Nadauld of Odgen, Utah; nnine grandchildren;
16 great grandchildren; and sisters Anne Kohler and Eleanor Lorance, both of
Bloomington, IL. She was preceded in death by her sister Josephine, and
brothers Frank, John, Leo, and Raymond.

Was a veteran of WWII, and was wounded in battle, and received the a Purple
Heart. He was also awarded the Silver Star for saving the lives of two wounded
men from an armored car which had been hit by fire in France in 1944.

Obituary Notice: Funeral mass for Leo G. Balcer , 81, was held Tuesday morning
at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glendive with the Rev. Joe Diekhans
officiating. Music was provided by the Sacred Heart Choir, vocalist Jack Wyse,
and organist Brena Olheiser. Rosary was recited Monday evening at the
Silvernale-Silna Mortuary Chapel. Interrment was in Dawson Memorial Gardens,
with Captain Curtis J Balcer, Les P. Balcer, Leo D. Balcer II, Michael R.
Balcer, Bryan Chapman, and Doug Veis as pallbearers. Balcer died Friday June
8, in Glendive Community Hospital. Son of Joseph and Mary Balcer, he was born
Febv. 8, 1903 in Bloomington, IL. where he was raised and attended schools. In
1921, he came to Glendive and on Nov 26, 1926 he married Marion "Lucille"
McCall in Glendive. When he first came to Glendive, he worked for Armour's
Creamery. He also worked for Glendive Steam Laundry for about 20 years. In
1954, Balcer bought out Fropsty's In and Out Drive in, which he sold in 1963.
He then managed the Glendive Moose Club until 1979, when he retired. A member
of the Glendive Elks and Moose, the Red devil Booster Club, the Glendale Fire
Department, and the Knights of Columbus, he enjoyed cooking for fireman's
banquets and fishing at Fort Peck. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. William
(Merlyn) Wavra of laCrosse WI; three sons Leo D. Balcer of Glendive, Thomas
Balcer of Sidney, and Richard balcer of Nogales AZ; three sisters, Mrs. Rose
Byram pf Redwood Falls, MN, and Anne Kohler and Eleanor Lorance, both of
Bloomington, IL; a brother Frank Balcer of Millington, MI; 11 grandchildren,
and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by tow brothers and
one sister. Silvernale-Silha Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Assigned as a private in Infantry (Company 51) at Camp McCoy, WI for basic training. Salary was $16.00 a month. Serial number 36554984. From Camp McCoy, he was sent to Fort Riley, KS (where he met President Roosevelt), then to Seattle Washington, Camp Davis North Carolina, and Seattle Washington again.

While at Camp Davis, he took 6 weeks of schooling in automotives, and was then promoted to Corporal (with a pay increase to $33.00 a month) because of the training. Corporal rank lost in November of 1943.

Left August 3, 1943 for Seattle by train. Further movement in small towns around Seattle. It was later learned that while assigned to guard duty near Richland and Pasco WA (3 months) that they were guarding the atomic bomb plant, which was a top secret enterprise.Was assigned to guard duty in San Franciso during the United Nations Conference.

Sent to Fort Bliss TX, July 26, 1945. Discharged February 16, 1946 from Fort Sheridan ( he had arived there about Sept 1, 1945) in Illinois. Army papers on file. His army scrapbook, titled "his service record" (donated to the family by his employer, Micromatic Hone Corporation) list him as 5'8", 163 pounds, brown hair, brown eyes,and a dark complexion. Favortie pastimes listed as pool and bowling, and favorite
spectator sport as boxing. Employment recorded as a machinist for A.C. in Flint, Wicks in Saginaw, and Excello (the parent company of Micromatic) in Detroit. SSN 379-05-4686. Information recorded by his wife, Evelyn. Although living at 4662 Mead, Dearborn, his home address was listed as Route one, Millington, MI.

Graduated from the Wolverine School of Trades (1400 W. Fort St., Detroit MI on July 26th 1949 with a diploma in Auto mechanics. Also graduated from the Body and Fender Collision course on January 24th 1950, and from the Automatic Transmission Course on March 28th 1950.

    FORSYTH, Raymond J. - Of Columbiaville, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 1993 at Lapeer Regional Medical Center, Lapeer, Michigan, age 43. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 1993 at the Hanlin Funeral Home, Millington, Pastor Keith Mead officiating. Interment to follow in Millington Township Cmetery. Friends may call at the Hanlin Funeral HOme on Friday from 1-9 p.m. The family will be present from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. Those who wish to make
    donations in memory of Raymond may wish to consider an educational fund for his children. Raymond was born in Mt. Pleasant on November 6, 1949 and was the son of Ralph and Mary Eleanor Forsyth.
