Gerard Noel Fricot

December 5, 1938 - March 28, 2000

These moving words were the Eulogy offered by Melanie and Nicole to their Dad, recited at the Funeral Mass at St Joseph's Parish, Salmon Arm on Monday, April 3, 2000

Ode to Dad

When I am old I shall take Kung Fu lessons

and play piano all day long

I will coach soccer and build skate ramps

and contraptions to fix my daughter's back

I will make long distance phone calls

in the middle of the day

I will let my daughter dye my hair

and we will use all mom's new towels

I will drive an hour to visit my family in a campground

and return home to sleep in my own bed

I will practice my tennis serve until

I am as fast as Pete Sampres

I will buy Bulgarian Wines

just to support poor countries' economies

I will drive my red convertible down gravel roads

at speeds greater than 70 mph just so the engine won't skip

I will breakfast on hot chocolate and cheese

just to gain weight

I will give my children my new car

and fix it when they break it

I will personally add weight to my golf clubs

so that I don't have to swing as hard

I will join a choir at the age of 59

I will pray a rosary every day

I will never complain about driving my children anywhere

even after driving 3 hours to work and back

I will call my best friend almost every day

I will add colour to my children's lives

I will believe in a God who can do anything

and try to get closer to him everyday

I will go where my family goes

just because I love them
