Welcome




My kitchen seems to be the center of all activity.
It is where I have a large calendar
to keep track of everyone's schedules.
When I have company, we usually sit at the counter chatting.
So come on in and visit with me while I bake some cookies.

Grandma's Anise Cookies

  • 1/4 lb. butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 tablespoons milk
  • 3 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of aniseed
  • confectioners sugar
Cream together butter and sugar
until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and milk.
Add dry ingredients and mix well.
Stir in aniseed. Chill dough at least three hours. Shape dough into 1 inch balls
and roll in confectioners sugar.
Place on greased cookie sheet
two inches apart. Bake 8 minutes
at 350 degrees until golden.
Cool two minutes on pan then remove to foil
or wire rack to completely cool.

7 Layer Cookies

  • 1 stick oleo
  • 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate bits
  • 1 1/2 cups butterscotch bits
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
Melt the stick of oleo in bottom of 9X13 pan.
Sprinkle with graham cracker crumbs,
coconut, chocolate bits,
butterscotch bits in order.
Drizzle with condensed milk
and sprinkle with chopped nuts.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
Let cool in pan. Then cut in squares.

*Variations: 7 Sinful Layers: Substitute oreo cookie crumbs, mint chocolate bits,
white chocolate bits and almond slivers.
Peanutbutter 7 Layers: Substitute rice krispies for coconut,
peanutbutter bits for butterscotch and chopped peanuts for walnuts.
