Pregnancy Jourrnal:

8 days before delivery
Lisa with her sister, Amy

July 14, 1998: Pregnant at last...after two years of trying to conceive, we finally did it.

August 7, 1998: First doctors appointment.  I went alone thinking it would be an uneventful exam and not expecting an ultrasound.  Well....got my first ultrasound and a BIG suprise...I was pregnant with TWINS.  Needless to say, I was in total disbelief and shock.  Asked if my doctor was joking and he very seriously said "I've learned never to joke about these sort of things".  Went home to tell Rob (which also happened to be his birthday too).  "Guess what honey?   We're pregnant with twins"  He was so excited.  Thank goodness.

September 23, 1998: Week 14 - Not sure, but I thought I felt some slight flutters in my stomach.  Who knows?  Could of just been stomach bubbles.  Finally getting used to the idea of being pregnant with twins.   Still scared to death, but getting excited too.

October 9, 1998: Week 16 - Got to hear both heart beats together for the first time, I don't think there is anything in the world that can quite compare to the experience of hearing your babies for the first time.  Morning sickness is bad and consistant.  Doesn't seem to let up at all.

November 4, 1998: Week 20 - Scheduled ultrasound to determine the growth of babies and if possible the sexes.  Baby "A" revealed to us that it is a little BOY, baby "B" wasn't so cooporative and wouldn't reveal what was (or wasn't) hiding between those little legs...have to wait another month to find out what "B" is.

November 13, 1998: Week 21 - Preterm labor problems.  Braxton hicks contractions are coming too often.  We decide it's time for me to stop working.  I quit work and decides to reduce activity level/stress level.  I'm feeling very definate movement now, how exciting to feel these little babies moving around (all the time now).

December 7, 1998: Week 24 - Scheduled ultrasound, both babies are growing right on target, weighing in at 750g and 820g each, which is in the 55th percentile.  Good news.  Baby "B" finally cooporated (after an hour of trying) and revealed that it was also a BOY!

January 20, 1999: Week 31  - Nursery is complete and I'm getting SO big, It's hard to imagine I could get any bigger (but I will).  At this point, I've gained around 40 pounds.

February 5, 1999:  Week 33 - Woke up and found that I was having some bleeding.  Went directly to doctors office, initial stages of labor appear to have begun.  I was put on drugs to hold off labor to at least 35 weeks so the boys lungs are more mature.

February 9, 1999: Week 34 - Blood pressure is soaring.  I've been given instructions to continue with the medications for one more week.

February 16, 1999: Week 35 - Blood presure still too high, instructed to stop taking meds and at this point if labor starts they will not stop it.  I've now gained almost 50 pounds.

February 21, 1999: 35w5d - 2:30am my water breaks.  I fly from the bed to the bathroom in one leap (well, if a huge pregnant woman can really leap).  We drive extra slow to the hospital to avoid any unnecessary bumps along the way.  The contractions have started and boy do they HURT.  We're checked into the hospital and the labor begins.  THANK GOD for epidurals!!!!
At
11:00am, I'm fully dialated and ready to be transported to the OR for delivery.  Baby "A" is head down and ready to be born.  "A"-Connor has difficulties at birth and needs assistance with delivery.  He is born at 11:58am weighing in at 5lb7oz.  He has breating problems and is taken immediately to the NICU.  In the meantime,  I'm left to concentrate on delivering baby "B" that is breech.  After almost 30 minutess of the doctors trying to turn the baby, they give us the option to delivery via c-section since "B" is still in the breech position.  Since "B" is butt first, not legs, we opt to try to deliver. With a few good pushes, Brody is born at 12:35pm weighing in at 5lb3oz.

February 23, 1999: Mom, Dad and Brody get to leave the hospital (Connor remains in NICU with issues relating to his difficult delivery)

March 15, 1999: Connor FINALLY comes home.  The happiest day of all....to finally have both of our boys home.
