Children's Art Museum of Nevada, 101 St. Jude's Street in Boulder City 702-294-7172 See the cream of the crop in artwork created by the youth of Nevada, plus works done by adults using children as their subjects. The Children's Art Museum is located on the campus of St. Jude's Ranch for Children. Open Mon.-Sat. from 10am-4pm. Admission: $1 donation.
Clark County Heritage Museum, 1830 Boulder Hwy. 455-7955 A special exhibit, “Minerals Go To War” is on display. A collection of World War I and World War II posters produced to aid in the war effort joins specimens of the minerals and artifacts that nixed the Nazis and kaboshed the Kaiser in this fascinating exhibit. Other exhibits include a timeline of 10,000 years of Southern Nevada’s past. Open daily from 9am-4:30pm. Admission: $1.50 for adults, $1 for seniors and children ages 3-15. Free to children under age 3.
Elvis-A-Rama, 3401 Industrial Rd, one block west of the Las Vegas Strip 702-309-7200 The Elvis-A-Rama Museum features $5 million worth of original Elvis Presley personal items and memorabilia. See his 1955 Cadillac limo, Las Vegas jumpsuits and stage guitars. Come see Justin Shandor, "Teen Elvis," perform a live tribute hourly as a complimentary feature with admission. General admission is $9.95; seniors and Nevada residents, $7.95. The museum is open daily from 10am-6pm.
Guinness World of Records Museum, 2780 Las Vegas Blvd. S. 702-792-3766 This wacky, weird and wonderful museum brings the Guinness Book World Records to life with color videos, hands-on displays and life-size replicas of assorted oddities. Open daily from 9am-5:30pm. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, students and military, and $4 for children ages 5-12. Children under 4 are admitted free.
Imperial Palace Auto Collection, 702-731-3311 View over 250 antique and classic cars on display, including cars that belonged to celebrities and former world leaders. Private collectors are welcome to make purchase offers. The exhibit houses the largest Duesenberg collection in the world. Open daily from 9:30am-11:30pm. Admission is $6.95 for adults, $3 for seniors and ages 12 and under. Located on the fifth floor.
King Tut's Tomb and Museum Luxor, 262-4455 An exact replica of King Tut's tomb as found by archaeologist Howard Carter in 1922 has been built at the resort. Open Sun.-Thur. from 9am-11pm and Fri.-Sat. from 9am-1am. Admission: $5
Las Vegas Natural History Museum, N. Las Vegas Blvd. 702-384-3466 900 The museum has live snakes and reptiles, nature experiences, animated dinosaurs and more. Visit the Nevada Room featuring plants and animals that are indigenous to the Desert Southwest. Learn about Nevada’s heritage with fun activities – searching for hidden treasure in a mining cave, and panning for gold to name a few! Open daily from 9am-4pm. Liberace Museum, 1775 E. Tropicana Ave. 702-798-5595 It houses some of the world’s rarest pianos, Liberace’s stage wardrobe, dazzling jewelry and classic automobiles. The museum is open Mon.-Sat. from 10am-5pm and Sun. from 1-5pm. Admission: $8.00 for adults, $5.00 for seniors & students, and free to children under 12. All proceeds benefit the nonprofit Liberace Foundation.
Lost City Museum, 721 S. Moapa Valley Blvd. 702-397-2193 in Overton The museum has one of the best collections of artifacts of early Pueblo Indians in the Southwest. Visit the new exhibit: Lost City Nevada's Millennial City: 1,000 Years of Change. Open daily from 8:30am-4:30pm. Admission: $2 for adults, free for kids.
Nevada State Museum Nevada State Museum, 700 Twin Lakes Dr. in Lorenzi Park 702-486-5205 See the state fossil ichthyosaur, 48 feet long and 225 million years old. The “HANDED DOWN: Nevada’s Living Folk Arts” exhibit features art by Nevada’s Native Americans, cowboys and early Euro-Americans. Open daily from 9am-5pm. Admission: $2 for adults and free to children under 18.
The Guggenheim Hermitage Museum The Venetian, 1- 866-GUGGTIX The Guggenheim Hermitage Museum's inaugural exhibition, Masterpieces and Master Collectors: Impressionist and Early Modern Paitings from the Hermitage and Guggenheim Museums, includes works by Picasso, Cezanne and Matisse, among others. Architect Rem Kollhaas designed the museum, located at the Venetian Hotel. Admission is $15 adults, $11 students, $7 children 6-12, children under 6 free and $12 Nevada resident with State ID.
