I dedicate this page to my mother, Arely Santos Rivas-Mena-Ratcliff. I was blessed with two mother figures in my life and this is the story of my natural birth mother. I hope to share her many wonderful talents and qualities in this living tribute to her. Too often, we sing the praises of our parents after they are gone. I wish to say "thank you, Mom" while she can still read and enjoy this page.
Although I may not say it often enough...I do love you and hope that these words will bring you much joy and happiness as it has brought me in writing them for you. Your life has not been an easy one but like the Spanish lace which has many holes and gaps, it is held together with many stitches which result in the design and strength which, with delicate care, can last many, many years.
I am truly proud of my Spanish heritage, although I may not act like it. I have so much more information on Dad's English heritage that I now am trying to learn more about the special Spanish customs and memories you hold in your heart.

I give you these words of love from my heart, your daughter's heart. Like you, I have written some poetry in my younger years and now I suppose I have inherited that talent from you. You write beautiful poetry in both English and Spanish which I would like to share with the world. You have also enjoyed drawing and sketching as well. I am not an artist who uses a brush and pallette but I use the graphics and words in my web pages to create a living memory for you.
