My grandmother was Gertrude Beaubien from Chatham, Ontario. Her father came to Ontario from Quebec. His name was "Harry" or something similar to this. Some other Beaubien families that settled in this area (Windsor-Detroit)were Antoine Cuillerier dit B aubien and his brother, Lambert. They settled in what is not Detroit. There is a Beaubien street where one boundary of his farm was and the other boundary is named Antoine (in parts, St. Antoine) street. My father's family were Huguenots (original spel ing was Senet). Unfortunately, Great Grandfather Beaubien did not speak the same French dialect as the local Francophone community, so he dropped his language and did not pass it on. If you check on some Detroit websites, especially the ones dealing wit early Detroit history, you will find material on Antoine and Lambert (Cuillerier dit) Beaubien. If I find anything further, I will post it on this board.

My wife's grandmother (Antoinette Marie Labissoniere) did some research on her genealogy and also has as her first recorded ancestor Jules TROTIER (spelling of the last name is slightly different) with a birth date in 1590 in St. Martin d'Ige, Perche Fran e. We have him being Married to Catherine Loyseau in 1625. Her research was followed up by Ruth Charest of Minneapolis, MN who specializes in French ancestory. We have a series of forms that Ruth typed up and I have entered to the best of my ability into Brothers Keeper. Interesting to find your web site.

Very interesting. I'm leaving in Joliette, (about 40 miles from Montreal, uébec. I knew that some Trottier have been immigrated in USA, but I'm very surprised from their quantity. I'm still working myself on my branch'link from our commun ancestor Gille and his wife Catherine. From the moment I'm blocked on the grand father (Prosper Trottier) of the father (Ernest Trottier) of my father (Robert Trottier 1920-1979). Hello, I am very interested in your web site. I am a descendent of the Trottier line. I have just discovered this, as I have recently begun to seriously pursue my genealogy. My ancestors are connected to Gilles-Antoine Trottier-Desruisseaux and Catheri e Lebfever. My great-great grandfather was Peter C. Lewis, his mother was Ann Elodia Beaubien (she was married to my great-great-great grandfather, Joseph Lewis). Ann was the daughter of Pierre Claude Beaubien and Catherine Editte Dequindre. Both Pierr Claude and Catherine Editte have lines leading back to Gilles-Antoine. I do not have documents in my posession. However, my grandmother is still alive, and she has information on her grandfather, Peter Cyprien Lewis. I also have received information f om the geneaology researcher in Essex Co., Ontario. This is nice work. My line goes directly back up to Gilles or Jules as he is sometimes called. My son is the next generation Trottier, although in my line the first male born on American soil. My grandfather was Napolean Trotier, a Canadian Railroad Teleg aph operator. My Dad born in Roche Pierce' told many fun stories about life at the mouth of the St. Lawrence where snow went to roof tops and coats were the only blankets in the drafty house.

Hello to all Trottier/Beaubiens out there. This site should help us identify how the family spread out over North America. I am descended from the de la Chesnaye, Beaubien, de Gaspé Beaubien branch. We were originally located around St. Jean Port Joli, ne r Quebec City, and moved to Nicolet, Montréal, and further afield (Ganonoque, etc.). There was a Beaubien who founded Detroit - but I am not sure which branch of the family he came from. There is also a Beaubien branch which settled in Manitoba, but I don t know when. Hopefully visitors to this site can help us answer questions like these...
