George Albert King Family

George King was known as the father of Maple Falls Washington. Founded in 1882 on Maple Creek it was an ideal place for the lumber mill. This consisted of a series of waterfalls that he used to generate power for the mill. The power for the mill was drawn by a series of flumes. The mill was first known as King's Mill than later it was called Maple Falls Lumber Company. George King (b. 9/17/1843 Canada d. 10/16/1928) married Caroline Hannegar (b. 2/16/1851 in Illinois-d. 3/8/1919). Both are buried in Kendall Cemetery in Washington. At the age of 5 George's parents moved to Iowa, all the children except Maude were born there. Maude was the first child to be born in Maple Falls.

    3. Manley (b. 7/29/1909 d. 11/1986)
    4. Ione Mae (b. 10/28/1910 d.1/22/1973 Married Amos Stevens.
      • Gladys (b. 5/2/1928-) Married David Burdine Dickerson (b. 01/24/1920 in West Virginia d. 4/01/1991, Houston, Texas), they had two children:
        • David Leslie (b. 10/24/1948 d. 4/16/1991) Married Susan Leigh Wisrodt they had one daughter
          • Tracie Lynn
        • Kathleen Ione (b. 8/24/51): Married Stanley C. Pickle, and they had four children:
          • Stanley Jr.
          • Barbara
          • Kristi
          • Jason

          • She later married Donald Douglas Best.
    5. Edith (b. abt 1900 d. 1955
    6. Wanda (???) married Emmit Goodwin, lives in Alaska
    7. Flora (???)
    8. Two other children died in infancy, no names given


  3. Maude married Charles L. Knight. They made the county famous upon the birth of their triplets, Dorothy, Dolores and Della. They also had four other children, three girls and one boy, at the time the triplets were born.
