HI, MY NAME IS ROXY.  I AM A TWO YEAR OLD ALL-AMERICAN CANINE, PROBABLY GOLDEN RETRIEVER-ROTTWEILER MIX.  WHATEVER MY PARENTS WERE, PEOPLE SAY I AM A BEAUTIFUL GIRL.  MY BEAUTY ALSO COMES FROM THE INSIDE…I TRY VERY HARD TO PLEASE!
This is me at the animal shelter.  My family moved away and left me behind.  I hung around a neighbor’s house, hoping they’d take me in.  One day I had thirteen puppies!  Luckily for me, a Humane Society lady came to get me and take me to PAWS & More animal shelter.
I was too skinny to feed all thirteen puppies, so staff and volunteers gave my babies extra milk three times a day.  They fed me plenty of dog food and lots of water so I could nurse my puppies.
Those puppies started to grow, and soon they were ready to go to their new families.  The first one to go was sweet Rory.  She is now called Angel.  Her family loves her very much, and says she is a smart girl.  Of course!
One day late in the afternoon, my friend Mary came to see me.  She said “Roxy, a family is coming to meet you, and I think you'll like them.  They may want to take you home to live with them forever."  Well, I was pretty happy at the shelter, and everyone was nice to me, but I was willing to be open-minded about this family.  We dogs really prefer to have our own family.

The family arrived and they had two little boys.  The one boy threw a toy for me to retrieve, and I showed him how good I was at THAT!  The man was so nice, I rolled over so he could rub my belly.  The lady petted my head and said my name, and I knew she loved me right away.  I also knew those boys needed a dog just like me.

I'm so happy!
I love my people very much.  They feed me well, take me for nice walks, and make me part of the family.  I stay in the house with them, which is where dogs belong.  I bark fiercely when I hear noises I don't recognize.

My family has enjoyed me so much that they adopted two more dogs from the shelter where I used to live.  Bubba is a Golden Retriever and India is a Basset Hound-Labrador Retriever mix.  We all have a good time together.

When you see rainbows on my pages, they are in memory of my sweet human rainbow child, Michael Benjamin, born and died May 13, 1986. I know he would have loved animals as much as his dad and I do.

Spay and neuter your companion animals. Leave breeding to responsible, knowledgeable breeders. Every year an estimated fifteen million fine dogs and cats are euthanized in America. This is no way to treat our best friends, so when it's time to adopt a new family member, go to a shelter and SAVE A LIFE.
Thank you for visiting my home page.
MaryAW (Animal Woman to my friends)  AND ROXY!
