 St. James is the only English-speaking congregation in the Diocese of Guatemala. We worship at The Cathedral of St. James the Apostle (Catedral Santiago Apostol), sharing the building, offices and activities of the Diocese with our Spanish-speaking sister congregation, Santiago. We are a small congregation comprised of native English-speakers from North America, Canada, South America, and Cuba. Some of us are permanently resident in Guatemala, while others are here temporarily in the diplomatic community or in private business. Increasingly, we attract native Spanish-speakers who partake not only of our English language, but our culture as well. We even have a few Spanish-only speakers who fare rather well since virtually everyone at St. James is at least bi-lingual.

If you are looking for a church that is traditional in worship, yet warm and welcoming then you may have found just the place. Our approach is simple:
 

  • Fellowship: We provide a place of fellowship where a relationship with God and each other can grow. You are never a stranger long at St. James. 
  • Children's Education: Children come first at St. James. Through our Church school programs, we make it clear that children are a priority.

  • Adult Education: We are dedicated to nurturing the faith of adults through both our worship and adult education. 
  • Outreach: We offer opportunities to serve others. Through our outreach activities, the focus of our ministry is increasingly beyond our walls.
