RABBITS

1. Dwarf Hotot. This was our most recent breed. Catey got a pair (buck and doe) from Kathy Dorsett (Thanks, Kathy)Catey showed the buck to Grand Champion, but both of them died.
   
2. Himalayan. This is a cylindrical rabbit-the only one. Shown stretched out long. They are a gentle rabbit, good for beginners. We never had very good luck breeding them.
   
3. Holland Lop. Another gentle rabbit that stays small. We never had much luck raising good ones, so Matthew gave up on them and tried Minilop for a while.
   
4. Jersey Wooley. This is one of my favorites. They are a cross of Angora and Dwarf rabbits. The wool can be spun.
   
5. Minirex. These are very soft-like a veleveteen rabbit. Matthew has a tri-color (looks like a calico cat) buck that has its grand champion status.
   
6. Polish. Of the 5 varieties, we have two. Broken and ruby-eyed white. Leslie has had a couple of does that she grand championed and has quite a few really nice ones. She had blue-eyed variety for a while, but has reached those busy teen years and cut back. Catey has brokens, and has grand championed her buck!
   
7. Rex. The first rabbits that we got were Rex. Like the minirex only bigger. Yes, we do use them as a meat rabbit and Leslie used a rabbit recipe for her special foods one year. Click here to go to her recipe.
   
8. Satin. Leslie got this breed from Judy Mensch (thanks Judy). They are a meat rabbit and have a sheen or shine to their coat. We cut them as the girls got busier with more things in life.
