February 1999

Dear Brethren,

The month of February has been a good month for us spiritually. I am really excited about how the Lord is working in our church in Piedras Amarillas. We started Bible study and prayer meeting on Wednesday nights and it is going great. I am teaching the gospel of John and everyone seems to enjoy it. We had 5 saved this month and 2 came down to reconcile to the Lord. We have more men coming now than we did before the hurricane and that is a real blessing. It is hard to get men to come to church here much less get involved in it. Jesus Melgar was what you would call the town drunk. His wife comes to my church and one day he decided to come and check me out and see if I was for real. He has been coming faithfully ever since and has quite drinking.

One of the biggest problems we have in Honduras is that the majority of the people do not get legally married. You find people here who have been together for 18 or 20 years and have 8 kids and aren't married. So you can imagine what a blessing it is to have 5 couples come to me and ask to get married and I am so excited about that. We have had the church in Piedras Amarillas for 10 months and it is great to see the Lord working in the lives of the people here.

We are having a problem with our Sunday school and we really need your prayers concerning it. The lady that was coming from La Ceiba to teach can no longer come and we have no Sunday school now. We have a lady in our church who wants to start teaching as soon as she and her "husband" are married. The problem is we do not have enough Sunday school material. If anyone can send any material to us such as flannel graph, flash cards, story books, coloring pages etc., we would really appreciate it. If you can not get flannel graph or flash cards in Spanish, I can have the instructions translated into Spanish here. We had around 78 kids coming and I hate not having anything for them. I can not find any good material in Honduras at a reasonable price.

If you would like to mail us any material the mailing address is:
