This is a memorial page dedicated to my and other hamsters, and this is a place where they will never be forgotten.

Mina was my female hamster. She has lived a wonderful two years in my household and she was a smooth hamster, meaning that she was breed for her extra smooth and soft fur. She passed away sadly on Sunday, October 26th 1997 from what I believe it was heart problems. She has also left us with some cute and adorable memories. One, escaping from her cage, on a night in which I thought I had closed up properly. Boy, did she take advantage of that! It was in the morning, when I realized that she was nowhere in her cage! I've searched, searched, and searched. Finally, it came up to me. Why not check out her fave place, when she runs in her ball? So, I checked out the storage room, since the door never closes, she could have easily slipped in. On a small gap (10 cm) in a corner, right beside the freezer, was our hamster. I was so happy to see her, curled-up, sleeping on a furry hat, that must have fallen before. It was so cute! But I had to wake her up, from her little rest and bring her back to her home. I was surprised that the first thing she didn't do was drink, since she was supposedly there all night. After that, I double-checked the cage door everytime. Compared to my Misha, she wasn't quite as active. She more likely chilled around, in which was cool cause she could just sit with me on my couch for hours while I'd be watching the tube. Mina was a little more fussier, on her nest. She would want more nesting material, than say Misha would. I think that kind of behaviour was just her instinct. Sometimes she would spend the whole night bringing nesting material (like woodchips) to or near her house. It's like there's a whole heap of chips on one end of the cage, and none on the other end! This girl, was cool with everything I gave her to eat. She even ate some stuff I wouldn't expect her to, like pineapple or bananas! She loved pears and peaches. But she wasn't really crazy on oranges, probably since it's harder to eat or someth'in. Fave veggie was lettuce, and she also liked fruit yogurt. Mina will never be forgotten, for she was a very special hamster. Pics should be available soon for her.

Misha was my first hamster I've ever owned. He brought me and my family many pleasures that a hamster can bring and more. Within the three years of his life, he has left us with many wonderful memories. Some such as digging in my old couch on New Years Eve, and getting lost inside it! Of course, the little critter was still very small, (since I had him for 1 week at that time) so he was able to squeeze himself in the little gaps near the edges of the couch. In order to find him, we had to flip the couch carefully and open it at one end! Fortunately, we still had 15 minutes left before it was New Years, 1993. The good thing was, later on we received a new couch! So we didn't have any problems since. He was a golden hamster, and unfortunately passed away on December 1996 from a tumor near his ear. I've read before on the internet that kind of death is not uncommon for a male golden hamster. That makes me wonder... has any other hamster owners experienced such a thing? Hmm, I'm not really sure. Although during the last two weeks of his life, he has suffered from the tumor and a crippled hind leg (although I don't know why) which is incredibly sad since you think it's an ear infection and it will go away. Not exactly the case. Well, he was and still is remembered as great and wonderful hamster. It's too bad that I don't really have much pictures of him, but I will look for some and try to pick out the best ones and show them here. Misha was also incredibly acrobatic on the top bars of his cage, it was always a pleasure watching him climb-up, and upside-down getting out of his cage. It really makes you wonder in aww of how those front little paws are very strong. (Even stronger than their hind legs.) He was incredibly active and ran on his wheel like 24/7! If not his wheel, it was his hamster ball. We had to replace it twice, since he wore it down so much! Another thing I had to be careful with, was his food. He was actually what ya call "picky" on the things he eats, but there's nothing wrong with that, since almost everyone is like that. His favorite fruit was peaches, and he also loved cheese. Fave veggie, was celery and carrots cut down into chunks. Misha will never be forgotten, and will always be loved.
