Our New House

First floor
Second floor
After a lot of research, we finally decided to go with a Modular from Foremost Industries in Greencastle, Pennsylvania. They have been building modular homes since 1964 and have quite a reputation. They do not advertise and sell only by word of mouth. We looked at one of their houses built 15 years ago and were very impressed. We finally made the trek up to Greencastle to look at their models and were even more impressed. Their quality is immediately obvious. We chose this plan due to its many standard options that are extra for most other builders. The standard options on all of their houses are: 40 year shingles, solid oak cabinetry, Andersen narroline hi-performance windows, R-38 ceiling/R-19 floor, Engineered Floor Framing System, and Oriented Strand Board Wall Sheathing on entire house (no styrofoam walls). Our house has as standard a "Cathedral" front door, hardwood oak flooring in the foyer, a deluxe master bath with a whirlpool tub, ceramic tile, and oak cabinetry, a laundry room/mud room with more oak cabinetry, custom oak stairs to the landing and oak railing to the second floor, a front porch with decorative columns, and a custom designed kitchen with decorative soffit and pantry. We are not planning to finish the upstairs until later (there are only 2 of us and this house is 2500 sq. feet on a full basement; we have plenty of space). The only major option we added was a gas fireplace in the family room that is surrounded with windows.
Digging for the basement started on Aug 26, 2000. This is the front of the house.
At the same time, a barn site is being prepared
This is the end of the first day's work
