Chaela was born in Cape Town on February 4^th, 1997. She is the daughter of a West German line bitch and an East German sable dog, and is a high-drive puppy at 8 months of age. Chaela was one of 4 puppies in her litter, one of which died, the other 2 are members of our club. Chaela took 3^rd in her first puppy show at age 4 months, when she received her VP grading. She was meant to enter an official show last week, but unfortunately went into season 4 days beforehand and had to be withdrawn…she's still in kennels as I write this & I have to admit our lives are emptier without her.

She is very excitable, loves the bed & "talks" to you…when it comes time to put their collars on to go out and play, she'll scream at the top of her voice in excitement. She's become a part of the family so quickly, it's funny to think of how boring life would be without her. But integrating her wasn't very easy…

We made a big mistake when we got Rambo and Sandy only one month apart - being so close in age they'd formed their pack, Rambo in charge & Sandy right-hand girl. Sandy was prepared to accept the little 7 week pup into the family, but Rambo saw her as an intruder and tried to bite her 3 times before Trevor had to make him realize that he wasn't the boss. From there things only got better…he realized she was actually quite a lot of fun & I think he actually misses her when she goes away.

Chaela's too young to have her own picture page yet, she'll follow in big brother's footsteps once her mom has woken up & started taking more pictures…

Baby Chaela battles Sandy over a rubber tug toy… Mom and Dad made the mistake of going shopping for the new puppy and not buying 3 of everything… Sandy is a jealous dog when it comes to other dogs having toys though, even when she's got an identical toy, she wants the other one. This just goes to show what a game little puppy Chaela is and has been all her life.
