Stanley (his commonly known name) grew up in a small town, he worked on farms and silos in his younger years. His first marriage was to Cecil McDonald, they had no children.
Stanley married Wanda in 1955 and they had Brenda and Stangela. They were divorced in 1969, but remained friends throughout his life.
He worked for years in rock quarries and was a member of the Teamsters Union.
His favorite pastime was fishing. You could find him on the lake or river every weekend that it was possible. He also liked to go hunting small game in his younger years.
In October 1990, he was diagnosed with cancer. Upon hearing that treatment would only prolong his life a few months, he refused the treatment. He died December 17, 1990 in Cass County Memorial hospital. His funeral in Adrian Mo was attended by many friends and relatives. His mother was still alive at the time of his death. Actually she outlived 3 of her sons, and her youngest daughter.
Stanley joined the Army and served in the Medical Corp. in Europe during WWII. Here are some pictures of him during his Army days.
