Newborns In Need

A wonderful baby charity I am a part of, Newborns In Need. NIN Provides handmade baby items free of charge (Blankets, caps, layettes, burial gowns, stuffed animals etc)to deserving babies in neonatal icu units, in hospitals (many of which are preemies) and babies going home from the hospital and many other crisis situations. NIN also collects new and good used baby items to distribute to infants in financial or other crisis. In many cases, it isn't just that the baby doesn't have enough- we often find that the baby literally has nothing else.

Pine Ridge Reservation, located in South Dakota, encompasses the two poorest counties in the United States. Living conditions are extremely harsh and many live in overcrowded, substandard conditions. Some lack heating and plumbing; some sleep on dirt floors. Temperatures usually drop to -30 farenheit in the winter and many lack even the basic food, clothing and essentials to survive. Many die of exposure in the winter and most are way below the poverty line.

Friends of Pine Ridge Reservation started in March 2004 to bring together individual donors who were helping a single nonprofit organization on the reservation. We have now branched out to many such organizations on the reservation, along with several schools.

Our goal is to provide resources not currently available to schools, foster homes, shelters and similar organizations on Pine Ridge Reservation.
