My parents, Richard and Trena

My Maternal Grandparents-- Novella and J.D. Lampley. They were both very special to me. Unfortunately my grandfather passed away in Nov of 1997 after a short battle with brain/lung cancer. He is with the Lord now. My grandfather was a retired Electrician, a WWII veteran and had received a Kentucky Colonel award- one of the highest honors in the State of Kentucky. He was very much a family man. He never thought about himself much- he always put his kids or grandkids before anything else(usually me because the other two were out of town much of their lives and never really had a chance to get close to their grandparents). Even when he was sick, I don't think I can remember him asking for anything for himself. The night he died, I went to see him, and as bad of shape as he was in- his last words were "How's Mother doing (what he called my grandmother)- You see her today?" It touched me the last thing he was thinking about was my grandmother.

My grandmother passed away April 18, 1999; the two of us were very close- she couldn't do a lot of things for herself or get around on her own due to a muscle disease, so she depended on me a lot for almost everything. That is, me and my parents. My parents are the ones who took care of almost everything with her- WHEN she let them!! LOL For some reason there are a lot of things she wouldn't let anyone but ME do or would only listen to ME a lot of times. I sure am going to miss her, but I know she's in the right place now.

These are my Dad's parents, Ruby and Roy Caneer. They are two wonderful people I am lucky to have. They have always been there anytime I needed anything and always will be. I hope I can and have returned the loyalty. Hehe, it's probably their fault I'm spoiled rotten- I'm the only Grandchild on this side of the family!

My grandfather always has to have something to be doing or something to "play" with. For example, you can always catch him making or buying "gag" gifts- laughing mirrors or motion-activated decorations.... or he is always building something or fixing up something around the house or garage. He is the kind of person who buys a new Cadillac every couple of years, but most of the time drives an '82 Chevy suburban with only one bench seat in it. I swear there will never be another one like him- God broke the mold when he made him.

My grandmother- is a much more sensible and down to earth person, who loves us all like the dickens but sometimes wonders why she puts up with all my granddad's antics. LOL She used to enjoy crafts like sewing, crocheting, plastic canvas, and also was a big bible reader, and Sunday School teacher. However due to a degenerative eye disease called Macular Degeneration, her eyesight is fading fast and she isnt able to do a lot of these things anymore. Also, this woman is happiest in the kitchen. You name it she can cook it and I don't think I can think of once she ever messed a dish up. She loves cooking and everyone loves her cooking. My personal favorites- Macaroni and cheese or Chicken and dumplins... but only if SHE cooked them!!!
