All SWAPPERS.....PLEASE note....when you receive your swaps do not thank everyone with an email to the list. If they have included their email address please reply to that address and if their is no address it probably means the swapper does not need to be thanked. However, if a label is attached then its good manners to say thank you privately to those whos' blocks you've received.

REGULAR BLOCK SWAPS

****COBBLESTONE BLOCK SWAP****

Organiser: Stephanie Driel
Organiser's email: stephaniedriel@yahoo.com.au
There is no need to sign up for this swap, tho it would be appreciated if you would email me when you post your package so that I may know when to expect it and know that you will be in that months swap.
Swaps will be due at the end of each month and they will be swapped and returned to you in the first couple of days of the next month.
Fabric must be 100% cotton patchwork fabric and please, no plain homespun to be used unless it is requested. Tone on tone and print fabrics required and novelty prints only when requested.
A set will contain 6 pairs - a pair consists of 1 positive and 1 negative block of the same 2 fabrics. A maximum of 3 sets can be sent, but must contain different fabrics in each set. Blocks will be swapped in pairs so that each participant will receive an equal number of light and dark blocks.
For ease of explanation, the following is based on using 2 FQ's to make your Cobblestone Blocks, but it is not necessary to have the same fabric for all 6 pairs in a single set.
FQ's usually measure 19" x 21"-22" and can be cut into 7, 2 1/2" x 21"-22" (You need 20 ½" for the blocks, but cut the full width of your FQ to save you making a skinny seam!)
2 FQ's in light/dark or in contrasting colours will make 14 blocks. 7 positive and 7 negative. One pair for you to keep, and 6 pairs to swap.
From EACH of your light and dark fabrics, cut strips 2 1/2" x (at least) 21" long.
Sub cut each strip into 2, 6 ½" x 2 ½" rectangles and 3, 2 ½" squares.
Block assembly - Positive Block
Top row - 6 ½" dark rectangle
Middle row - 2 ½" dk square, 2 ½" light square, 2 ½" dk square
Bottom row - 6 ½" dark rectangle
Negative Block
The reverse of the above - dark square in the middle surrounded by the light fabric.
Blocks must measure 6 ½" square unfinished. Blocks that don't measure up will, sadly, have to be returned.
Where one colour is given for that month, then a light and dark of that colour is required.

Enclose a stamped (do not use postage labels for return postage) self addressed envelope and write on it how many sets you have sent in. If you want me to re-cycle your envelope, please write clearly on the delivery envelope "Please Re-cycle" and include stamps and a return postage label in with your swaps.

INITIAL....THEME ...REDWORK.....CHRISTMAS....CHRISTMAS CHRISTIAN PIECED BLOCK SWAPS.

ALL HAVE SAME ORGANISER DETAILS
Organiser: Pat Quinnell
Organiser's email: jpdq@optusnet.com.au .

PAT WILL BE TAKING A BREAK FOR AN OP SOME TIME IN 2007 SO THE SWAPS WILL BE SUSPENDED DURING HER CONVALESCENCE
Email for List.... href="MAILTO:SCQIS@yahoogroups.com.au ">SCQIS@yahoogroups.com.au

Both the INITIAL swap and THEME swaps are a 12 month commitment so you really need to be sure that you are prepared to do a block a month for 12 months, so if you are considering an extended holiday in the next 12 months this is not the swap for you.
Both the Initial and Theme swaps run the same way.
Everyone is to supply their own background fabric for each block, you can get 9 blocks out of l metre of fabric and you will need approximately 1.5 metres for the 12 blocks.
All fabric is to be 100% cotton, so wash and iron your fabrics and cut them in to 12 x 13” squares the extra .5” is to allow for fraying as these blocks get handled a lot and we have noticed that they tend to fray, you can even overlock the edges for extra support. You can have any size block you like but the maximum size is 13”
The Rules that must be followed are very important and are not harsh but to make each group run smoothly we need the rules to be taken seriously.
1. ALWAYS email to your sendee and the digest that you have posted off a swap to them.
2. ALWAYS email to your sender and the digest that you have received a swap off them.
3. ALWAYS if you are running late and cannot make the monthly deadline email to your sendee and the digest to say you are going to be late.
4. If you are sick, or there has been a major disruption to your life and you find that you cannot do your blocks for a while then let the digest know and myself and I can find someone to do the blocks for you.
These rules are simple but need to be followed to allow each group to run smoothly without hic cups.
INITIAL SWAP
After you have cut out your fabric on one of the blocks appliqué, piece or embrodier your initial. Eg. P for Patricia. Examples are on the photo section on SCQIS.
When you have completed your initial then post it along with the other 11 blank blocks to the next person on the list, you might like to include a small note book for the other members of your group to write down a little about themselves and what they did for you.
Then you will receive a swap each month and on the blank blocks you do something starting with the letter of the swap you have been sent eg. You get Suzanne’s swap and you do maybe a Sunbonnet Sue.
This continues on for 12 months then you will receive your own swap back.
THEME SWAP
After you have cut out your fabric on one of the blocks appliqué,piece or embrodier your theme eg. Buildings you might do a house and then when completed your theme block send it along with the other blank ll blocks to the next person on the list, you might include a small note book for other members of your group to write down a little about themselves and what they did for you. Then you will receive a swap each month and on the blank bocks you do a block with the theme of the swap you have been sent eg. You might get Suzanne’s swap and she wants angels so you do an angel .
This continues on for 12 months then you will receive your own swap back.
REDWORK SWAP .
You supply, your fabric, pellion and thread, you pick a theme for your swap. After you have cut out your fabric on one of the blocks and your theme and colour thread can be any colour not just red, you embroider your theme eg. Garden and you might embroider a bee hive and then when completed your redwork theme block send it along with the other blank ll blocks to the next person on the list, you might include a small note book for other members of your group to write down a little about themselves and what they did for you..
Then you will receive a swap each month and on the blank bocks you do a block with the theme of the swap you have been sent eg. You might get Suzanne’s swap and she wants Raggedy Annes so you do a Raggedy Anne in redwork using the thread that Suzanne has supplied. This continues on for 12 months then you will receive your own swap back. .
THINGS TO DO FOR BOTH SWAPS
Attach a small piece of calico or homespun with your name and what you did and attach it with big stitches to a corner of the blocks you do.
Everyone who signs up to do a swap will be invited to join SCQIS (Southern Cross Quilters Initial Swaps) this way emails can be sent to our group and not to scquilters.

PIECED BLOCK SWAP. ROUND ROBINS, ROW BY ROWS..
This requires a sample pieced heart to be sent to Pat Quinnell so she and her moderators can put you in a group that is your equivalent in standard of work. It is just so vital that you must be very accurate to do the round robin and row by rows thus the sample is needed.
MOTHER'S DAY, ADVENT,YULETIME and SECRET SANTA SWAPS .
You will be given a lady to send to and also a list of what you are to provide and you have to then send the items to the lady you will be given after you have completed making or buying the items required. Advents swap is 24 items 10 to 15 have to be of a high standard of hand made and the rest can be brought except for item 25 which must be handmade/brought to the value of $15. All the other swaps require 3 specific items which change each year.
FAT ¼ BIRTHDAY SWAp. You will send 12 fat 1/4s to 12 ladies on their birthdays and on your birthday you will receive 12 fat quarters, you can only do this swap if you have done previous initial, theme etc swaps with us.

REDWORK SWAP
You supply, your fabric, pellion and thread, you pick a theme for your swap.
After you have cut out your fabric on one of the blocks and your theme and colour thread can be any colour not just red, you embroider your theme eg. Garden and you might embroider a bee hive and then when completed your redwork theme block send it along with the other blank ll blocks to the next person on the list, you might include a small note book for other members of your group to write down a little about themselves and what they did for you.

REGULAR FABRIC SWAPS

CHARM SQUARE SWAP

Organiser: Jackie
Jackies email: soccretees@iinet.net.au
Themes
Welcome to the Charm Square Swap. I have given each swap a title to put a little fun into the swap. The Olympic swap is green and gold fabric to represent Australia, The Puppy Dogs Tails swap is an I spy fabric swap just for boys, etc. Ideas are very welcome and I thank the ladies who have sent in theirs already. The lowest amount of squares to be sent is 3 sets of 5, and the maximum is 7 sets of 5. I am finding it hard to swap more than that as numbers are getting lower for the swaps.
MAY 30th
The Olympic Swap (Green and Gold)
JUNE 30th
Puppy Dogs Tails Swap (Boy I-spy)
JULY 30th
All Things Nice (Girl I-spy)
AUGUST 30th
The Positive and Negative swap (Black and White Swap)
SEPTEMBER 30th
Fresh as Flowers Swap (Floral)
OCTOBER (2 separate swaps for this month) 30th
Cats and Dogs swap (this is two swaps so if you just want dogs, just send in dog fabric, if you just want cats, just send in cat fabric)
NOVEMBER 30th Anything but Xmas swap (Like doing pot luck but without Christmas fabrics!)
DETAILS OF THE SWAP:
1. This swap involves 6½" squares of pre-washed good quality 100% cotton patchwork fabric. (Buy 20cms of fabric, cut it into 6 squares which are 6 ½ inches, keep one and the rest is sent to me, I swap them and send you 5 different ones back).
2. The squares are to be sent in sets which consist of five squares that are all the same. Do not mix them up as I will mix when I swap the fabrics.
3. Put nametags on each square and they are made with either paper or fabric. They are sewn on using a long straight stitch on your machine and the nametags only have to be small. Please do not use pins or safety pins to attach them. (Small stickers are fine as long as they are of good quality so people can take them off when they receive their package and maybe put them onto the back of the square). Doing this helps me make sure you don't end up with your own fabric back.
4. The lowest amount of squares to be sent is 3 sets of 5, and the maximum is 7 sets of 5 ( a set is 5 squares of fabric)
5. Do not include the selvedge.
POSTAGE
Place all your sets in one plastic bag (zip lock bags are good) and please label bag with how many sets are included in the bag, your name and your email address. If you package it flat, it will be cheaper to post, letter rate approx $1.50, package rate approx $4.90. Put the bag in a package addressed to:
Jackie Jackson
14 Mona Vale Place
Annandale QLD 4814
Ph: 4728 4271 / 0402141567
Include in your package a self-addressed stamped envelope/bag with postage to the same value as it cost you to send your blocks to me. If posting from overseas, please contact me and we will negotiate fat quarters for postage. Please note....when you have received your swaps do not thank everyone by emailing to the list. If they have included their email address please reply privately to them. All packages must arrive by the 30th of each month we are swapping. Please email me when you have posted so that I know that your package is coming and I can keep an eye out for it. I will post reminders two weeks and the one week before the due date. I really look forward to receiving all the lovely packages in the mail and corresponding with all the participants.
Important to note:
Let me know if you are participating in the swap at least 3 weeks prior to the due date. This way I can see if we have enough swappers, if I don't I can ask for some late entries. If I don't have the minimum number of swappers (6 swapping the same numbers of sets) then I have to send back some of your own fabric which I work hard at not doing.
Thanks guys,
Hugs
Jackie.
