Welcome

To Cole's Special Page

Cole was welcomed to the world on January 8, 1998. He made his debut approximately 6 weeks early. He was a tiny baby, he only weighed 1 1/2 pounds and was a mere 12 inches long. He was placed in the Neonatal ICU. After only 24 hours he was breathing on his own.

Unfortunately, Cole was diagnosed with Russel-Silver Syndrome. He would have quite a battle ahead of him. He was loved by many people. He was a real fighter. Although he was off the respirator by 24 hours, three days later he was placed back on the respirator. The doctors decided that he was wasting too much energy trying to breathe on his own. Cole also had to have a trach placed because of the long term respirator use.

Cole also had a hard time gaining weight, therefore he also had to have a feeding tube. Due to his hard struggle to try and overcome his problems from the prematurity and the Russel/Silver Syndrome, he also developed a hernia and had to have surgery to repair this. There for a while at first, there was doubt if Cole would survive and be able to leave the hospital.

Finally Cole started to gain weight and seemed to be improving. We all had high hopes that he was going to get to come home. There was even talk about him coming home in February. But the Lord had other plans for Cole. On January 5, 1999 Cole left his life on Earth to be with Jesus. We grieve for Cole but know that he has a better life than us. Cole will always be in our hearts and he will be greatly missed.

And of course I could not complete this page without a picture of Cole and his family. The first picture is of Cole, Patricia (his mother),and Cheyenne (his big sister). The second picture is a picture of his wonderful mother, my loving niece, Patricia. She is a wonderful mother.

And with great sadness, I must add that on March 14, 1999, Cole's sister Cheyenne joined him in Heaven. If you click on her name it will take you to her page.

And we would like to thank Amanda B. for making this graphic for Cole.
